Dewhurst is speaking and very upset with the likes of Palin and Hannity/Levin interferring with Texas politics, lol!!
Good news indeed!
Even better if Romney doesn’t get the delegate count needed.
If he were like Bush/McCain, it would be a marked improvement. He’s no more a Conservative or Republican than Zero or Plugs. Dumping this abomination at the convention is of paramount importance.
Most of Travis County (where Michael W. is running second to Roger W.) is still out, and Michael Williams is not that far from the guy in second place (second through sixth place are fairly tightly bunched), so I’m not giving up hope yet. But, you’re right, Michael Williams’s odds of making the runoff don’t look very good right now.
Local stations did dare to discuss the Bound Delegate numbers, that they will not be known until New Mexico votes, next week I believe.
Meanwhile, Romney’s delegate count is being sold but not confirmed. His supporters and the media don’t require confirmation, of course. smirk.
Thank you. A few of us (very few) accept your fine compliment.
Hardly a disappointing showing...Dewhurst had the GOP machine behind him and Cruz just had the tea party. I’d say it was a pretty impressive showing for Cruz.
Now with just the 2 of them in the runoff, Cruz can raise some much needed funds and finally get some EXPOSURE.
I was thinking SP’s backing would have translated into bigger numbers for Cruz.
Hopefully in a 1 on 1 contest Cruz does better.
This updates quite frequently
Closer would be better...
TY for the link!
I was just about to ask about the delegate count.
I hope Mitt doesn’t cinch the nomination on Texas.
CRuz got swamped with sleazy ads from dewhurst.
Same here. I didn't even know he was running until a couple of weeks ago. I've been hearing about Ted Cruz' campaign for at least a year now.
Cruz got my vote today.
The Tea Party was well on board for Cruz and even quite hopeful by the time Palin deigned to endorse, and there remains the number her endorsement might still turn off, though that number is surely by now shrinking, since she is a pundit and not a player, imho. %:)
If Cruz just picks up Leppert voters he will win the runoff.
Really? Hmmm...
And there were 9 in the race.
Now there are 2

Lugar is out. Haven't you heard?
Right now it’s 45-33 with 60% of the vote in. I think that’s about what it was was expected to be. I was thinking maybe a bit closer than that.
Conservatives in Texas have their work cut out for them.
Fool? Since I refuse to support Romney due to his record and my values I REJECT the title FOOL. Only a FOOL would support a socialist.
It’s not my fault the GOPe selected someone form the left side of the isle and tossed him on the base thinking we’d all jump in line and vote for him.
If you want to vote for Romney you go right ahead. How you could support him I don’t know. Just because he is anybody but Obama is a rather weak argument because Romney’s record screams “I’m just like Obama!”.
Don’t give me that lame line everyone else gives “if you don’t vote for mittens your voting for Obama”.. No. If I don’t vote for Obama or Mittens I am voting either for someone else or NO ONE!
Watch us fight.
Kiss my grits, you Loyalist coward.
For me, standing up to the tyranny that now besets us, is more than just lofty rhetoric. I can trace my direct lineage back to an American who fired at the British in anger during the Revolutionary War.
Since his time, many of my fathers have shed blood, or have sacrificed greatly, to stand guard over this fragile republic. What sort of son would I be if I meekly accepted the lefts terms of surrender in my day? Im not standing in harms way with a rifle in my hand, like so many of them did.
No - Im armed with only a ballot, by whose markings my fathers shall judge me. I would not even think of sullying their honor by giving my solemn vote to a man who has essentially gone into abject Treason against the very things my forefathers fought and bled for.
May your chains set lightly upon you...
Cruz did have a lot of publicity at least in my circles, over Dewhurst, whom I believe probably expected more of a coronation and therefore perhaps wasn’t compelled to spend on exposure until late.
Perhaps Sarah’s endorsement flushed Dewhurst out after all?
I held the opinion her endorsement was late and rather a wash at any rate. But, admittedly we discovered Dewhurst was in the race after that, and he did become pouty about her endorsement and Cruz thrilled, so what do I know?
Maybe, but BHO gone means all the "Csars" gone, Holder gone and so on, which is important as well.
Tom Leppert looks to be the difference.
Yes.. maybe they will be gone. Romney hasn’t named names on who he’d pick. Your running under the assumption he’d select better..
Problem is, Leppert is a bit like dewhurst.
The good thing is that most of the people that voted Leppert were voting against Dewhurst and dont seem to realize that Leppert raised taxes in Dallas.
THAT is exactly my story!
Our forefathers were not that into capitulation, preferred over rebellion. To waste what they gave to me and trade that costly gift of liberty off in exchange for PEACE at any price is beyond my capability.
Rebellion is HARD and it’s scary, but if not I, then whom?
I’m not usually for a third party, but I think we need to indeed keep our options open. There are plenty of opportunity out there in the disasters to come about. Republican ineffectives is going to shove them on the sidelines.
If a third party is like a camel, it will be indeed easier for it to squeeze through the eye of a political needle (small or so called single issue candidate), than for the corrupt to part with their little day to day toys for the sake of greatness. Penny pinchers often lose a bank for a penny, and that is the legacy we are seeing in America.
If Obama can scream “Yes We can”, then so can we.
Voting reliably conservative in Congress will do that, when you're representing a conservative part of the country.
Ralph Hall is one of the few exceptions to the DC rule, which is why he's consistently been returned to Congress, election after election. He's one of the few honest reps in the US House.
You joined Free Republic TODAY to post your thoughts. I guess you live up to your screen name. See how much ammo you can get for your guy who talks about Polish Death Camps.
“I was thinking maybe a bit closer than that.”
Me too!
“Conservatives in Texas have their work cut out for them.”
Yes.
I’ll take your word on it - my knowledge of TX politics was Rick Perry (who was my #1 pick for POTUS).
Rick...Sweet Rick...
you Loyalist coward.

Five Loyalist women walking alone from Wyoming Co PA to Canada with 31 little children during wartime right through the middle of your “brave” ancestors who burnt down their houses and chased them off cannot be called cowards...
Who is the coward when old grandmothers and 10 year old little girls are arrested as enemies and put in prison..

Thankfully, the run-off election will give him plenty of time to rebut and debunk the sleazy Dewhurst ads.
Gads....mind if I join you?
Go to it! The Senate is full of Dewhurst types, Texas can do better!
We will.
But we aint doing to bad.
How do you figure? Supporting evil is wrong - whether it's wearing your team jersey, or not.
If you feel that you've been forced into a corner, and have to make the pragmatic choice, then say that, but don't attempt to incriminate those who are sticking to their conservative guns, because they won't follow you there.

I never thought I'd see the day that you'd be cheering on an establishment, liberal, RINO, like Romney.
No worries, brother. I'll be here for you, when you've settled back to reality.
I hate to say it but I’d prefer that SOB to Obama LOL
Climb down out of the clouds and get a grip. Romney's record in office is nearly as bad as Obama's.
To wit:
Mitt Romneys Dismal Record
"As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.
* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.
* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace.
* While 8 million Americans over age 16 found work between 2002 and 2006, the number of employed Massachusetts residents actually declined by 8,500 during those years.
"Massachusetts was the only state to have failed to post any gain in its pool of employed residents," professors Sum and McLaughlin concluded.
In an April 2003 meeting with the Massachusetts congressional delegation in Washington, Romney failed to endorse President Bush's $726 billion tax-cut proposal."
[Cato Institute annual Fiscal Policy Report Card - America's Governors, 2004.]
Romney's "accomplishments".
1. Implemented/created Gay Marriage in MA
2. Supported and forced Gay Adoption in MA
3. Supported Abortion wholeheartedly
4. Raised taxes/fees over 300% while being Governor of MA
5. Implemented a state-level Cap and Trade system.
6. Supported Man-Made Global Warming
7. Supported the Brady Bill
8. Implemented a state level Assault Weapons Ban after the Federal AWB was allowed to expire.
9. Supported TARP
10. Supported Amnesty for Illegal Aliens (Citizenship for those already here)
11. Supported McCain-Kennedy (Amnesty)
12. Implemented a socialized medicine in MA called RomneyCare complete with an Individual Mandate and $50 abortions.
13. Nominated 27 Democrats (out of 36 nominations) for judgeships in MA, many of them extreme left-wingers.
At least pretend that you're simply making the pragmatic choice, and not wholeheartedly supporting this disgusting liberal.
