I would expect Romney to distance himself from controversy and send an attack dog (Trump) to stir up a situation. When things get uncomfortable, he will throw Trump under the bus. It’s his m.o. and sadly part of politics.
I don’t believe for one red hot second that Myth didn’t know what Trump would say. And, conversely, I don’t think Trump is an unwilling hand maiden.
It’s all part of the show. But, of course, I am a huge cynic. ;)

If Mitt had any brains at all, he would stay far away from Trump. Trump cares about 1 person, Trump. The Donald would sell the whole Republican party down the river if it got him some free publicity or somehow benefited him. Romney has nothing to gain by hanging out with this blowhard weasel.

Of course, but you have to consider that Trump knows he may need to be thrown under the bus, and may have COUNSELED the candidate that it may be necessary. He doesn’t care, he’s far more of a gutter fighter than Romney, and may prove very useful. A far more attractive hatchet man than Larry Flynt. In the end I think he hates PBO with a white hot burning passion and would do anything to bring him down.
