British Airways was a straight-laced airline.
After giving birth to baby Obama, Stanley Ann flew from Kenya along the Polar route to Vancouver BC.

That would be BOAC not British Airways. Flying to Vancouver from Mombasa would be at least one or two stops to London. From London to Vancouver BC would be thru Montreal or Toronto ... no direct Polar flights between London & Vancouver at that time.
