I’ve seen C-141 Starlifters doing touch and go’s in the skies in around Bangor International for years.
One time, when I was deep in the woods, I heard the sound of jet engines above my head. I looked up, and I saw about five or six F-15s doing their thing in the sky. I felt like I was at an air show.
Loring AFB in the northern most part of Maine was a SAC base in the recent past, but it was closed during a round of cuts by the base closing commission.

Every-time have seen formation flying have thanked my lucky stars. One formation flying came at me about twenty five years ago when was driving down the road. Was used a by warthogs for lineup practice. Was fun. Felt dead afterward. Love it at treetop and it was.

As a kid I well-remember the contrails during the 1962 Cuban Missle crisis!
