“Facebook’s IPO Sputters”
Color me—not surprised. I guess the gurus as Morgan Stanley didn’t read the article on technolgy that is about to become passe last week. Facebook was listed.

The underwriters, including Morgan Stanley, were paid 176 million dollars in fees and Facebook raised 16 billion dollars.
I think the gurus did just fine with not reading the article.

Yes and Yes.
Rules that apply to the small fry don’t apply to the big.
Common practice I guess.
What is interesting to me is that the ad revenue and market data isn’t making as much money as expected.

How long till the stock is at $10. I give it three years. Facebook doesn't make a profit and I don't know anyone who has bought even one item based on a Facebook ad.
I have "liked" a few grocery stores and have purchased a few sale items; but that's it.

Facebook now has a market value greater than century old companies that actually make things to keep our civilization going.
If the best the modern American economy can do is to produce a "business" that's essentially just an internet time-waster, then we're screwed.

Ha,ha, but it was worth it, right? :-)

Stuart Varney is going to have egg on his face, too. He was blathering about this public offering being a triumph of American capitalism.
I’m on FB, but I hate it. I only stay to see cute pics of my friends’ grandchildren. :-)

um... I don’t really understand how facebook makes money, how can they be worth anything?
I don’t pay to use it... I never see any ads... I don’t get it.

Thanks BenLurkin. I need customer service, and FB is part of the much-ballyhooed service economy we supposedly enjoy, but for a good laugh, call the FB number and press 1 for customer service. I don't think it's possible to post a spoiler about what will happen next, but I'll let everyone find out for themselves, just in case.
