Bruning called Fischer to concede, he may be a liberal Republican, but unlike Lugar he showed class in wanting to come together as a party to defeat the Dem so I give him that

Actually, Lugar immediately endorsed Mourdock.

Agreed. Bruning was one of the big movers on the suit against Obamacare. Classy move and I do think he has the goal of beating Kerrey and getting rid of Obama.

I met a guy a couple of years ago who is one of Bruning’s best friends and has been since jr. high school. He said Bruning is a great guy and extremely funny. He also said that his success in politics has not changed him at all and that he was basically the same guy as he was in high school. This was a guy that came out to clean up some pet mess spots on my carpet and not a big shot at all and this was way before the senate run came up so I beleive him.

That being said, I am thrilled with Fischer’s victory. As late as the middle of last week, Bruning’s victory was a forgone conclusion. I think it shows that the people of Nebraska want someone in D.C. who won’t stab us in the back like Nelson and will represent this extremely conservative state in a conservative way.

And just to clarify, I quit the Repub party in disgust about 5 years ago so I didn’t vote in this primary. Deb will certainly get my vote this November and I may have to send her a little contribution as well.
