Obama Announces Plans to Repeal Defense of Marriage Act

You spoke too soon, Rand Paul. It sounds like the President's views on marriage just got even gayer.

Somewhat buried in CNN's story on Barack Obama's fundraiser in New York is this little tidbit about his administration's plans for marriage equality—

He also outlined goals he hopes to accomplish under a second term, including the repeal of the Defense Of Marriage Act, which the administration has already stopped defending.

This is the first time Obama has said that he wil actively work to repeal the law.

At the fundraiser, hosted by openly gay pop star Ricky Martin, Obama called same-sex marriage the "right thing to do." He also said that contrary to what many rightwing pundits have alleged, marriage equality will help families.

I don’t think that’s what God has in mind.

“Go and multiply and be fruitful” he told woman and man.

FYI. Unless Romney gets in the WH, with a conservative House and Senate and starts to pull us back from the abyss (which I doubt), I am going Galt. As a Veteran who took an Oath I STILL believe in, I will stand by for orders if the unfortunate time comes.

The only thing that is surprising is that Obama announced this before the election. He was always planning on repealing DOMA and in favor of gay marriage, he just hedged around the issue before because he feared it would hurt him politically. It was on his 2nd term “to do” list, I have no doubt.

One surmises that Obama’s own internal polling numbers must be even worse than expected for him to do this. It’s a clear cut gamble to fire up his base and “go for broke” in the 2012 race.

Okay, you religious people are starting to tick me off that you have to post your beliefs on every political thread. Your beliefs are just beliefs. How do you know that Hinduism or Buddahism is not closer to god? You don't.

What's true is the socialist/Marxist mentality that is destroying this Christian/Judea built nation. I love the values, but not the doctrine/religion. For you and others to interject such all the time is starting to p*ss me off. Here's a news flash for you who need to quote "scripture", those who wrote such thought the world was flat and the Earth revolved around the Sun. Give me a break. NOBODY knows what this Universe is about or what happens, if anything, after we die. NO ONE knows!

So you ask, how can you have morality without god? Simple: We all have human apathy/empathy and that gives me my moral compass. I care for people, especially good people. That's enough for me. Address the political issues or take your religious stuff to the proper forum, please.

I think we all knew that as soon as he thought it’s possible, that he’d push for national recognized homo marriage faster than you can say Jack Robinson. He’s one of them!

We have played defense for too long. The Left constantly seeks to advance the homosexual agenda little by little. They chip away at the perimeter, but their constancy causes those chips to become breaches over time. Our current game play of simply trying to limit the damage is a hopeless endeavor. It will end in absolute failure. It basically has done so already.

We need to go on the offensive. For example, we need to make widespread calls for the overturn of Lawrence v. Texas. Even if we are not ultimately successful in repealing it, the very effort of doing so will cause the Left to reallocate their resources; it will change the terms of the battle; it will allow us opportunity to begin chipping away at their defenses.

If we hope to win, this is what we must do. We must also realize, however, that some on "our" side will oppose this, because some on "our" side are mostly silent sympathizers with the homosexual agenda. But never fear. Some on "their" team are silently rooting for our success.

But win or lose, we need to do what is right and oppose evil. And evil indeed it is.

The gay community wants to be accepted as “normal” so badly

It's more than that. The goal is to bring more into their flock and expand their ranks. The way to do that is to institutionalize their lifestyle. When it's codified into law and sanctioned by the government, it has to be taught to young people in school. And there will be nothing any parent/teacher group can do to stop it then. The kids will be taught that they can marry Bobby or Susie when they grow up and that there is no difference either way. And sex ed will be used to introduce kids to the sex practices used by gays. We've seen some of this indoctrination on a small scale in liberal areas. But legal same-sex marriage will make it mandatory everywhere. If it's left out of the curriculum, the schools will be subject to a lawsuit for not upholding the law of the land and they will have to comply.

And how’s Romney going to answer this question in the debates? Somehow I doubt he knocks it out of the park like Santorum would have. He is the only Republican candidate who could possibly fail to capitalize properly on this issue. Romney and the RNC’s whole strategy was to appeal to gays by being moderate on the issue. Now he just looks like liberal lite compared to liberal Obama. He wants gay adoptions and doesn’t want a national constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. It’ll be hard for anyone to tell what exactly he’s against. And conservatives need to call him out now on the cop out “I believe a marriage is between a man and a woman.” That’s the same thing Obama said and it’s meaningless, because it says nothing about what laws and policies you’ll put in place. You can believe what you want, but that is an intentional dodge to avoid saying what you’ll actually do.

Bad economic headlines likely coming on Tuesday, Obama needs to steal the news cycle.

So if Obama posed nude for Playgirl, would you say he was just trying to steal headlines? Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If Obama wants to focus attention on something that makes him even more unpopular, let him. Remember, this is not about stealing headlines, his back was against the wall to get money from his gay donors, one of the Democrats' only wealthy constituencies. He's taking a strategic hit in the hopes he can make up for it later and we should attack his vulnerable underbelly with all we've got while he's exposing it.

I think we can hit them where they dont want to be hit. Not in the American People's underwear, but in their pocketbooks, purses, and wallets. I think I know what they are up to. Head fake. Change the topic.

Why would you want to hinge the election on economic numbers which can shift with the wind? Obama's already trying to take credit for the private sector energy boom, and the private sector still has the power to potentially turn the economy around in spite of Obama. These social issues are at the core of what defines conservatives and they are relevant in every election. Obama wants radical change in the culture and in the economy. You can't and shouldn't separate the two. They go hand-in-hand and by focusing on both equally you truly expose Obama for what he is, a radical bent on overturning everything that makes America unique and great. Show that he wants to destroy both capitalism and marriage, and you show how anti-American he is. Those pieces put the picture together in a way that could finally define him truthfully in the minds of Americans who think he's just a "nice guy." Romney's the first one we have to convince.

Mark Davis on Rush made a good point where if this is accepted in all 50 States, then the differences between male and female will be nothing and we could see things like women getting drafted and so on.

Phyllis Schlafly always said the Equal Rights Amendment would have been a backdoor way to get same-sex marriage legalized. By declaring the genders equal, marriage would have to be redefined. And certainly the courts would interpret it that way. I would not be surprised to see them go back to something like that again to get same-sex marriage backdoored in if their "full frontal" approach fails.

Why doesn’t he just issue an executive order?

But not a high crime or misdemeanor. It’s at most a crime of omission, sort of like not defending the Mexican border from illegal immigration and smuggling.

“I think he despises gay people and is playing to their own perceived vulnerabilities.”

He is simply delivering on what they paid for last week; he has either been told 1) he can’t win anyway, so he should take 30 pieces of silver to sell out his Muslim heritage, or 2) he needs their money to win, so he should take 30 pieces of silver to sell out his Muslim heritage.

The House should have convened Impeachment hearings 5 minutes after Obama announced he wouldn’t defend DOMA.

Everyone in Congress is a gutless coward. They are afraid of the half-black in the White House; they are afraid of the 2% queer population. The question is 'why'..?

He either knows something about the coming voter fraud or he’s incredibly stupid to keep the waves of attacks against moral society and Christian values.
