Good mornin’!

34 minutes walk today! 1 minute off my record for the year...Woo-hoo!

At least one black shooting a day here. Most don’t get any mention in the news. At my stations we’ve beenn told to not cover shootings, fires, auto accidents and such unless it affects traffic to a major degree.

Instead we’re supposed to do things like puppy parades at elementary schools, entertainment and celebrity stuff as long as it’s positive, and fashion, cooking and lifestyle events.

Bleagh!

Son and future (less than two weeks!) have talked about living in Pittsburgh. What neighborhoods do they avoid, and what neighborhoods are safe?

Good question! I like some parts of Greentree.

Just sitting down to a ham sammich. Not sure I can handle listening to the Pelosi cut!

Good morning n’@!

The wedding is coming up fast!!! Do they newlyweds want to live in the city limits or just closer to the city? If they are working “dahntahn” the North Hills are great for an easy commute (PaDaughter&SonInLaw live in Glenshaw). If they are looking for close to the Burgh and lower than Allegheny County taxes, Westmoreland County is nice (but not such an easy commute into the city at rush hours). PaDad has a co-worker who moved into Regent Square neighborhood last year—movIng out this year.

Jim is on a roll. He went there w/Sinclair. Did he mention Rev. Wrong being bribed? I noticed I also got a ping to a thread on Barry possibly rooming w/Ayers in college...

We got our raised gardens built last year. Gardening is so much easier this year - no heavy digging! The earth boxes sound like a good idea. Especially for our eggplants and some of the tomatoes. We have a relatively small, hilly yard with two black walnut trees nearby. Raised beds and containers are the only route if we want to grow tomatoes, potatoes and some other vegetables that are susceptible to black walnut.

morning all!

I wish I could get a station with R & Q. Akron is the closest station but I just get static on the two radio(boom boxes) I use.

I can get Rush which is Cleveland 1100, about the only station I can clearly get(talk show wise). But it is also the home of Cleveland Indians and so games are on more often than Rush during the season.

Just a quick check in~

Does your son have to stay in the City limits?

Anyway, tell him to stay away from any neighborhood in the East End. That includes anything from Oakland to East Liberty and Point Breeze (I used to live in Friendship, many moons ago.) Northside is bad, too. I think people still like Squirrel Hill, Shadyside, etc., but IMO they’re too close to the rough parts.

Greentree is ok, as are parts of Crafton. Nearby Westwood is considered to be a good option. Some of the people here at work have lived in the Southside for years, but I don’t know if I could deal with the noise and traffic congestion.

I have 3 earthboxes already and 9 raised beds.. I figure a few more won’t hurt... so, I’m adding the 4 earthboxes and 10 raised beds.
