Churches Split Over Gay Marriage [Black and Protestant Churches]

Churches Split Over Gay Marriage Religion is on both sides of the same-sex marriage conflict

By LAURIE GOODSTEIN

At a black Pentecostal church in Raleigh, N.C., the Rev. Patrick Wooden entered the sanctuary on Sunday to a standing ovation, exulting that God’s “high hand” had led voters last week to pass a statewide amendment banning same-sex marriage. He took to the pulpit and denounced President Obama for taking a stand “in support of sin,” and “in opposition to the biblical model of marriage.”

A thousand miles away, at a predominantly white, Lutheran church in Madison, Wis., where a rainbow banner greets churchgoers arriving for services, the Rev. Susan Schneider preached that gay men and lesbians were included when Jesus commanded his followers to love one another: “Knocking down the walls is what Jesus was after.”

Mr. Obama’s declaration last week that he supports same-sex marriage prompted ministers around the country to take to their pulpits on Sunday and preach on the issue. But in the clash over homosexuality, the battle lines do not simply pit ministers against secular advocates for gay rights. Religion is on both sides in this conflict. The battle is actually church versus church, minister versus minister, and Scripture versus Scripture.

The clash over same-sex marriage does not simply pit ministers against secular gay advocates. Religion is on both sides in this conflict.

The dividing lines are often unpredictable. There are black churches that welcome openly gay couples, and white churches that do not. Some Presbyterian churches hire openly gay clergy members, while others will not. The Roman Catholic Church teaches that homosexual behavior is a sin, but there are Catholic priests who secretly bless gay unions.

This article is written by someone who doesn’t realize there is zero support for gay marriage in scripture.

What a piece of cursed blaspheme

I’m really distressed over the number of “clergy” who’re jumping on the gay marriage bandwagon. I really don’t understand how they determine which parts of scripture to follow and which parts to ignore.

Here is the definition of marriage according to Jesus Christ. Apparently, Barry Hussein the genius missed it. From Matthew 19:4-6

Then there's this from the Apostle Paul in Romans chapter 1 verses 23 to 31.

Not a lot of wiggle room there.

Did you miss the part where closet homosexuals joined church organizations and infected their view of"human rights" into the leadership discussions? I'll bet dollars to donuts that the homos conspired and plotted this out decades ago.

This article is too lacking in logic and research to pass my ninth graders’ essay standards.

“There are black churches that welcome openly gay couples, and white churches that do not”.

Have heard the term “race baiting” recently (on Hannity, so NOT in context). Been wondering what it means. I think this is an example of it.

“Some Presbyterian churches hire openly gay clergy members, while others will not”.

OK

“Roman Catholic Church teaches that homosexual behavior is a sin, but there are Catholic priests who secretly bless gay unions”.

Could this journalist give a clue as to the Church’s teaching on this, which is well-mapped out in an encyclical called “On Homosexuality”?

Yes, we now know for a fact that there are Catholic priests who act outside of the laws of BOTH the Church AND Natural Law.

I thought we were all having a huge problem with that.

Anyway, The McLaughlin Group had a map of the states who do and those who do not allow gay marriage.

Check it out.

It may as well have been the map of states where the majority of people read AND respect this paper and those which do not.

Coincidence. Maybe.

....the Rev. Susan Schneider preached....

The part about not suffering (allowing) a woman to teach or exercise authority would be a component. Having surrendered the bible to the feminists, this is only the next step.

“For there must also be factions among you, so that those who are approved may become evident among you.” (1 Cor. 11:19)

There is ZERO support for homosexual union in Scripture. GOD explained such as an “abomination”. Those that do not agree with God on this are not “approved”. They are false teachers.

Religion is on both sides in this conflict.

No it isn't.

This is, however, a handy litmus test for clarifying which churches are not churches.

Pastor Sue Schneider's pro-sodomy church.

It would be one thing if they counseled and helped people OUT of the sinful lifestyle--turning them to Christ and aiding them to stop behaving contrary to the Word. Then a "welcome" sign would be appropriate.

Indeed, and this:

“The Roman Catholic Church teaches that homosexual behavior is a sin, but there are Catholic priests who secretly bless gay unions.”

They would die if they ever affirmed what the Catholic church actually taught without throwing in their scuttlebutt.

Another purely contrived “story.” A church lead by a lesbian wants Gay “marriage.” A real church doesn't. Regardless of the color of the congregation the bible says the same thing. The lesbian doesn't want to follow it; the minister in North Carolina does. What's the “controversy?”

Laurie Goostein is a far-left Christian-hating Commie. This article is pretty much total disinformation.
