I love history. My mother and uncle are researching my family history for a possible book.

Just today they discovered that my great grandmother’s grandfather and great uncle went (from Wisconsin) to serve in the civil war on the same day. Only her grandfather returned but he claimed that his brother was still living. We don’t know whether the brother switched sides or simply stayed in the south after the war.

“my great grandmother’s grandfather”

Cool.

This tells you a little about me, though: both my great-grandfathers fought in CWI—one on each side. We have the diary the Northerner kept. The Southern side ran for their lives after the loss to the North. A trunk of Confederate money apparently burned up when one of my aunts was young. A house fire. We also can trace back to land now occupied by Baltimore or some such. I want me some reparations!
