A legend indeed - a Mustang loving friend of mine with the last name Carroll named his son Shelby. RIP, sir.

Another American icon and legend gone. He was a man of no airs, in spite of what he had accomplished. I lived near him in Playa Del Rey, Calif. He could have driven anything, but chose a huge Ford station wagon with fake wood siding. He earlier had built his wife a Cobra with auto trans. Dunno how many of those got built, suspect very few. What a collectors item that would be.

RIP

LOL. You know me too well man.

My post above came before seeing your ping.

While I'm here, I might as well use this real estate for some eye candy.

I owned two Shelby Chargers - the second one was the turbo version. A lot of performance for a 2.2 litre engine - fun to drive.

Rest in Peace, Carroll Shelby.

he fathered the Cobra, an Anglo-American hot rod of crude conception

Crude? That's a compliment. That's what hot rod means.

When I was a kid my parents owned one of the 350’s. Came stock with a rollbar and a fire extinguisher. Cosby did a bit about driving a Shelby Cobra that still makes me laugh to this day!
