The author papers over the extent of slavery in his “socialist paradise”. A census of Athens around this time period (ordered by the tyrant Demetrius Phalereus) showed 21,000 citizens, 10,000 metics (resident aliens), and 400,000 slaves. So, essentially, this ‘paradise’ the author is describing is more like an oligarchy where the top 5% rule and steal all the wealth.
