Ever since he burst on the national scene, up from obscurity as an Illinois State Senator addicted to voting present, his purported "likeability" has been cited as one of Barack Obama's principal political assets. Polling has historically shown that even as the public may disapprove his policies, they tell pollsters that they like him personally.
To be honest, he has always left me cold, because I recognize in him the sort of figure I encountered many times in my academic career: someone who masks his lack of substance with a big smile, jokes (sometimes mean jokes at the expense of others), and a stock of glib answers masked in abstractions that often do not stand up well under close analysis.
Last night on Hannity, Dick Morris reported that the last few weeks have been a disaster for Obama's likability, and that his likability has plummeted to the same levels as approval of his policies. Because television is unfriendly to documentation, I cannot cite the polls Morris claimed support his conclusion. But there is other evidence that the likability factor may have gone past its expiration date, that the illusion has been broken as Americans re-vet their president.
One of America's premier liberal columnists, Richard Cohen of Washington Post, has written a surprising column, lecturing Obama about his failure to build important political relationships, contrasted with the master of political power in DC, LBJ. The subtext, unmistakably, is that this guy is not very nice, and people around him are catching on. The entire column is worth a read, but here are some excerpts:
"Where Johnson was strong and unparalleled - personal relationships with much of Washington - Obama is frighteningly weak. Last week I asked a member of the Senate if he knows of anyone who really knows Obama ...

They are furiously backpedaling from all of the “I, I, Me, I” in the Bin Laden football spiking campaign. That must have registered a serious blow to Barry’s “Q” rating.

Romney wont be much better.
He wont put on the brakes, just shift to neutral.
Technically he wont drive us off the cliff. He'll just coast.
Obama has much to hide, and therefore avoids being known by anyone save a few trusted friends. He is probably bisexual and has a cocaine habit.
I find myself mystified when I see reports that people find Obama likeable. Who ARE these people? The guy is a preening narcissist who doesn’t have an ounce of grace or class in his entire body. What on earth is there to like about the guy???
Until a couple weeks ago, that circle would have also included several SS agents.
The SS had to have been in on most if not all of BJ’s secret adventures....
Dog-eating communist freak.
180 days, until we vote him out.
Focus people.
It is beyond me how anyone could have liked him in the first place, I was initially turned off by his pomposity and my feelings went down from that point forward.
From the article, this most moronic of oxymorons: Democrat grown-ups.
The folks who find him “likable” are the toadies and want to be’s. They want to be around and are infatuated with power, nothing more. Political Groupies if you will.
The man’s the same little schyster we all knew growing up, the used car salesman, the “Eddie Haskel”, the guy at the office who’s completely inept, and a living embodiement of the peter principle. He’s a dud who trys to cover up his ineptitude with sly behaviors.
This article is ridiculous because it focuses on whether various Democrt politicians like Bammy Boy. Bammy could care less about these boring white hacks. Bammy only needs to connect with enough voters to get him elected again.
Hopefully the voters are sick of Bammy and his style
I have always had a hard time understanding his high “likeability” numbers. Of course liberals would like him because he constantly reiterates the liberal mantras, but the figures imply that most independents like him personally. Apart from the “Bradley effect” where people may be telling pollsters that they like him because they don’t want to be considered racists, I think it must have to do with not paying close attention. Obama is constantly on TV, hectoring, mocking, sneering at his opponents, blaming others. I don’t see how that can be appealing unless you are a committed Democrat, a committed socialist, or committed in a mental institution.
And don’t forget that fragrant blossom by his side.
The ‘I hate America, whitey and anyone getting in the way of my vacations or my all-night-all-you-can-eat WH buffets’ Wookster.
“Hopefully the voters are sick of Bammy and his style”
The Bammy supporters’ world is a simple one:
Democrat GOOD, Republican BAD.
The leftist freaks I know are mindlessly doubling down on anti-Republican venom, so they may be sick of him and his style, but they’ve learned to hate Republicans more.
It’s kinda hard to like a obnoxious, untalented, spoiled vapid dork quota baby who’s never done a useful thing in his life.
Other than that, the dork is a pretty likable.....idiot.
The depth and width of loathing of Obama by vets, active military, family, and friends cannot be understated. The CNO recently stated that the US Navy cannot continue to do its job under current slashing of the military to pay for Obamas transfer payment base. Extraordinary and unmatched statement since the Revolt of the Admirals in 1947, if memory serves. If Israel is smart, it will attack Iran as soon as Netanyahu re-consolidates his base. Obamas reaction will be to refuse to help or even try to block Israel, which will be it for his skank administration. It will take Servpro to clean-out the White House after hes gone.
Those are the leftists who are committed. If Romney is the nominee he will be going after the independents. The ones who can vote either way. Some who voted for Bammy Boy last time
We can also hope the moochers and leftists don’t show up to vote
Screaming and yelling, with effected and synchopatic accent is a message of desperation and flailing.
Got Nope?
