FORT WORTH - A Fort Worth pastor shot a man he said broke into his home early Monday morning.
Anthony Jobe said he awoke to his doorbell being rung in the early morning hours at his home in the 2400 block of Hunting Drive. He said he then heard beating on his side door, which is where he said he found a man attempting to kick his door down.
Upon seeing the alleged intruder, a confrontation ensued, ending with Jobe shooting the man with his handgun.
"That's unfortunate, shooting pastor, I know," Jobe said. "... I shoot more as a hobby and I like to go to the gun range, but this is unfortunate that this happened like this, but you have to do what you have to do to protect your family."
While the man was able to flee the scene, someone with bullet wounds showed up at the Baylor All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth later in the morning. There was no official statement on the condition of the man, but Jobe said he was told by authorities that the wounds were not life-threatening.
Police recovered the car involved in the incident and discovered two bullet holes in the car. Investigators questioned and released two other suspects found with the car.
Jobe pastors a small church and is a United States Army veteran with a license to carry a concealed weapon. Police did not name the suspect because he has not yet been arrested.
Reminds me of a movie I just saw, Machine Gun Preacher.
Ok....I have to ask. What kind of burglar rings the doorbell or knocks? Something fishy here.
Another use for ringing the bell is to see if anybody’s home. I’m going to guess that lack of response to the ringing caused the perp to assume that there was nobody home and that it was safe to kick in the side door.
It’s used to determine if anyone is home. If no comes to the door then the house is easy pickings for wealth redistribution by the criminal(s).
Some folks ya gotta preach a little harder to than others.
Never unlock any secondary lock, unless you are going to open the door anyways.
Why even answer your door if you don't know the individual?
Don't you screen your phone calls?
What kind of person doesn't yell out “Junior grab that dog ” before they answer a knock at the door?” (;^)
He was only ALLEGED to have entered? So the pastor was wrong to shoot then? Did he shoot the wrong person, not the real intruder?
Or is the media once again siding with criminals from the initial reporting of the story?
I hate liberal style guides.
I hope:
1. that the perp was an Obama voter
2. he was one of Obama’s sons
3. He wore a hoodie
4. Looked like Trayvon Martin
5. Has a yellow sheet
6. Had burglary tools on him/in the car
7. His two buddies squeal on him now that the police know who they are
Like Dusty Springfield, I’m just “Wishin’ and Hopin’”
It was very fortunate for him and his family that he was armed and did not hesitate to defend himself and his family.
A Fort Worth pastor ... Anthony Jobe ... “That’s unfortunate, shooting pastor, I know,” Jobe said. “... I shoot more as a hobby and I like to go to the gun range, but this is unfortunate that this happened like this, but you have to do what you have to do to protect your family.”
The proper story is: “The pastor was unavailable for comment. His lawyer explained that the pastor is distraught over the incident and is not making any public statements at this time.”
Well the trick or joke would be on the burglar when you crack open the door with one hand....and have your 9mm in the other.
Stupid burglar.

We first check our security camera monitor. Anyone suspicious looking will not get a response at the door. We decide who we will respond to. Then if they try kicking in the door they'll meet Mr. Shotgun. Just saying, lack of a response don't mean no one is home.
If you have reasonably solid doors, probably the best way to prevent a “kick-in” is quite simple and inexpensive. Just get a large bolt that will fit in a smooth metal bushing, then drill a hole large enough for the bushing in the concrete in front of and at the base of the door.
Epoxy the bushing into the concrete so that its top is flush with the floor. When you want to bar the door, just drop the large bolt into the bushing, leaving about 2” sticking up in front of the door.
It is terribly hard to get through, as the door almost has to be broken in half, even if the locks have failed.
Most of the time, you will want some easily removed cap for the bushing, just to keep dirt out.
His story is going to be good enough in Tarrant County.
Besides, he can always play the ‘card’ if he has to.
