Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Monday she wanted to see a female US president during her lifetime -- but insisted she was ready to "get off the high wire" of top-level politics.
"I hope so. I really want to see that in my lifetime," Clinton said during a town hall meeting at a girls school in India's Kolkata, when asked about the prospects of a woman taking America's top job for the first time.
Clinton praised India's "great display of women empowerment" due to the prominent role played by female politicians over the years but said that in the US "we still have a pretty hard glass ceiling that has not been broken at the presidential level."
The former First Lady and New York senator, who was beaten by President Barack Obama for the 2008 Democratic nomination, reiterated that she was not interested in another shot in 2016.
"I have been active in high-level politics for last 20 years. I feel it's time for me to get off the high wire," she said. "I would like to come to India and wander without streets being closed and a lot of security."

Although we’ll see monstrous political bandwagons in favor of a false conservative, stealth socialist female candidate planning to further “empower” public education, anti-marriage efforts (”domestic violence” advocacy) and “get tough on crime laws” and policies (police state), it won’t happen.
The debt regime will go last long enough to support more political correctness. Forget it, social lefties/goddess worshipers. Or continue wasting your time and incomes derived from debt on it. That would be alright, come to think of it.
Have fun. Enjoy the slide. “Back to the future.”
The debt regime will not last long enough, even.
Why is she so insistent on having a President with a vagina?
Frankly, I don’t care what the President has between their legs...I want them to be CONSERVATIVE.
Maggie Thatcher. Ronald Reagan.
Both of those leaders were awesome.
Maybe she is telling us that the operation was a success.
Someone said it looks like she fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.
That’s not it, The countries she flies into refuse to bring out the boarding ladder so she gets thrown off the plane and she always lands head first, something to do with the left always doing things backwards, as a result the accumulated damage is somewhat overwhelming.
Meet the Press, July 17, 2001
Tim Russert: In July you went before the National Press Club and made a comment, and I've been saving this tape, and I want to roll it right now
(Videotape, July 17):
Hillary: No, I have said that I'm not running and I'm having a great time being pre--being a first-term--being a first-term senator.
(End videotape)
Russert: A little Freudian slip there?
Hillary: Well, no. I don't know what that was.
Russert: That was "president."
Hillary: Well, you could have been--there are a lot of words that begin with `P.'
Russert: R-E-S.
Hillary: Prescient. No, I'm having a great time being a senator.
Russert: Do you ever want to be president?
Hillary: No. You know, I...
Russert: Ever?
Hillary: No, I really.
Russert: Never? You'll never run?
Hillary: You know, Tim, I have no intention of running for president.
Russert: Oh, but that's a--no intention. Either "I will never run" or "I might run."
Hillary: You know, your good friend and mine, James Carville, told me, "Tim will ask you this 900 different ways," but the answer is the same. You know, I do not intend to do that. But what I do intend to do is, you know, to be the best senator I can be, which is what I'm trying to do to the best of my ability every single day.
I am totally indifferent to the sex or skin color of a candidate, but I hope Hillary gets her wish - only because the best qualified person for that job happens to be female.
Can anyone provide a picture of an attractive lib, because quite frankly, I can think of none.
So now Hillary’s going to campaign for Sarah Palin?
She has a certain kind of ugliness about her that cannot be airbrushed out!
