I think the author of this article means “bluebeard” not blackbeard. As I recall blackbeard was a pirate and bluebeard was a philanderer.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for explaining that. I wondered why Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, would have been a notorious advocate of the institution of marriage.
