Argentine Armed Forces were better trained and equipped back in ‘82 compared to what they got right now. Since then, their country went “pacificist” and now they’re demanding the Brits to hand back the islands to them? This time, the Brits are veterans of both Afganistan and Iraq wars. So if there’s a war, this time, it wouldn’t even last 24 hours despite the Brits making considerable cuts in their defense budget.

“So if there’s a war..”

The Argentinians won’t attack. The military is not running their country anymore.

They will stick to psych warfare painting the British as the oppressive, greedy colonial power in the international stage. In the end, the British will probably hand over the islands willingly because they have gone socialist and those islands probably don’t mean that much to them.

Thats a nice theory but the Brits have nil ability to project force compared to what they had in 82. - and that wasn’t much either.

Fortunately for them the Argentinian military isn’t up to much more than putting out a brush fire right now

On the other hand, the British Navy is a shell of what it was in 82. They decomissioned their last harrier squadron. I don’t know if they have the ability to project any air power in the South Atlantic.
