BTW, taking a good cold look at the whole picture it seems to me that folks in Virginia are in a position to put the victory into Republican or Democrat hands and without respect to any outside interests.

I"ve been thinking of what it is that we want that the parties can provide that would be a winning campaign theme.

Can they buy us with more government buildings? HMm! Always a good ploy. They should try it. But more likely its going to be something more personal ~ like maybe pulling the plug on Virginia's Bourbon Faction that currently controls the state and the main factions in the Republican Party?

That's something both the National Republicans and the Democrats could do with adroit use of criminal prosecution on just all sorts of things.

BTW, that would NOT affect Conservatism in Virginia nor would it endanger the TEAParty. Both factions have been written out of the picture by the more classical Bourbon Faction (Governor, Lt. Governor, etc.)

The whole election can be swung by the winner in Virginia, but he'll have to be bold.

Indeed, here in Northern Virginia I am expecting 24/7 campaign ads to begin soon enough. Last poll I saw had Obama up 7 or 8, and unfortunately that is believable as this state has definitely changed for the worse (particularly my part of it). So many people moving to Virginia from liberal states to find work, unfortunately they don't change their voting patterns and continue casting ballots for the same Democrat politicians that forced them to move in the first place. I sometimes ask if it has ever occurred to them that the liberal policies they've been supporting are the cause of the problem, in return I usually get a blank stare. It's clear that most Democrat voters simply never put 2 and 2 together. These leftists are like locusts!
