My aunt,who died about 10 years ago,was a Marine during WWII.At her wake there was an honor guard of two female Marines at her casket...they looked like they were at least close to her age.Very moving indeed.As you said,the type of thing that allows you to understand that all the "hype" about the USMC is true.
