I’m tired of all the knee-jerk calls for torture, either mediaeval, or courtesy of fellow prisoners.

IMHO it wastes—and perhaps even perverts—society’s emotional and spiritual energies to think and talk that way.

Then again, some of it is borne of frustration out of the incredible waste of society’s resources to ‘punish’ the offenders, if that is even the right word for what actually happens to them.

Why wouldn’t a quick 50 cent double-tap to the brain pan be enough, and then we all get on with life?

And the way things are going, we might soon need about one every six minutes nationwide, 24x7x365, to survive as a society.

The whole idea of “cruel and unusual punishment” was to DISINCLINE others from doing the crime.

Time in a federal country club prison is not even a deterrent.
