He didn’t have a gun; apparently (if media reports are even halfway accurate for once) he had a kitchen knife in his hand when he shooed the kids away. He SHOULD have had a 12 gauge or better handy for the lynch mob’s arrival.
Yep, a street sweeper 12 guage would have done the trick...
