Bet Tzefafa was a separate village until Gilo development surrounded it, and it continues to function for the most part as such, with a hill or two for grazing. There are about five such villages incorporated into Jerusalem, and you usually get attacked by mobs only in two or three of them, and not Bet Tzefafa, anyway, that I know of.
