Hypocrisy alert: House Republican freshmen are begging their leaders to bring back a certain type of earmark so that they can help companies back home in an election year. In a letter to Speaker John Boehner and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, 65 House Republican freshmen or roughly three-quarters of the class asked that the House consider a miscellaneous tariff bill jampacked with special provisions to suspend duties on various foreign goods, even though it runs counter to the earmark ban Republicans campaigned on in 2010 and instituted when they took power.

They need more bribes to bring in the donations!
Many of these are seats that are in play on the 2012 election and it is important that real conservatives with a strong social and fiscal responsibility views hold on to these seats.
I've said before that I think we don't need a federal government anymore. A confederation of states (like we started with) can handle defending the borders.

Pathetic. How many of these people still have their primary to get through? Maybe they need some challengers.
Just GOP Potomac Fever swine doing what they do best...
PING!
It didn’t take long for Bonehead, Cantor and The GOP DC crowd
to turn and corrupt them. The sad truth is these REPS are sent as conservatives, but are turned very quickly.
My advice, pay less attention to DC and start preparing for
what’s coming down the road. It appears that DC can’t be changed.
Dear one-term freshmeat.
It actually IS a surprise that you sold out to the establishment with so little effort.
Remember the Tea Party" Taxed Enough Already? No more earmarks? 'Go along to get along' is a "no no?"
I hope not all got the "DC virus." And I hope those of you who didn't, can be identified in time.
"An earmark is a legislative (especially congressional) provision that directs approved funds to be spent on specific projects"
How is suspending a tariff an earmark? They aren't asking for any spending. This is yet another hatchet job by the liberals at Politico. I'm sure they're high fiving with the dem strategists over this story.
...is this the Tea Party class?
saw it was from Politico and not worth reading...junk
And this is why boner says there’s a 1 in 3 chance of losing the house in 2012.
If they don’t intially run to cash in, they certainly run for re-election to cash in. Those perks must be a lot better than we can even imagine.
Even if the bill is technically not an earmark bill, it still sounds like a special interest-fest of the kind that we sent these people to Washington to stop.
As for Politico, so what? I’m not stupid enough to vote Democrat, and neither are you.
