Yes, we should hope to find virtue in government and we should encourage the virtuous to seek office. However, we should assume that anyone seeking political office has the morals of an alley cat. We should assume that they’re all scoundrels looking for a bribe or a piece of tail or both. We should never stop digging for dirt.

Little surprise to hear her say that she grew up a liberal and ‘converted’ to being a conservative. There are a lot of this sort in the ‘conservative’ media whose instincts were Left. Medved and Krauthammer being two more.
The founding fathers said the only way that government would properly serve the people would be if it were run by moral people. Sounds right to me. More conservatives should choose government service and do their best to limit its scope. In Wisconsin, our state treasurer ran on the platform of trying to eliminate the job if he got elected.
