Newt can’t win. Its over. No need to continue fighting yesterday’s war (or blogging about yesterday’s war). It doesn’t matter how great Newt is. If he’s the Messiah, or Reagan reincarnated — he still can’t win the nomination, much less the Presidency. He’s done. If he was our best hope — then its time to find the next best hope, or hunker down. Arranging deck chairs as the last few feet of the USS Newt go underwater is not productive. Clinging to false hope is a waste of time. Reality always beats delusion for planning purposes. Mitt is the nominee. Now what?

Wow. Why so negative? I doubt America could have survived 50 years if we all had that attitude.

Negativity requires forecasting. This is just reality. The race is over. Romney has moved on. Conservative talkers have moved on. Even the horserace-obsessed media has moved on.

Delusions don’t help anyone. Conservatism is about dealing with the reality on the ground, not pie-in-the-sky false hopes.

Newt and Rick shot each other in the foot. If one or the other had gotten out early enough for the other to win, we’d have a different race. Both stayed in to the bitter end, split the conservative vote, got their asses whipped — and Romney beat them. Pride ... fall.

why has realism become a negative trait and blind, inane optimism become the movement of the day?
