Loved these guys.
I worked at Washington & Vermont when the earlier Watts riots happened. Had to go to work or not get paid.
Scary stuff. One black tried to toss a grenade down the air conditioning ducts onto the 2nd floor where about 80 of us were working.
Shots—multiple-— fired. Grenade guy dead. Shooter was our maintenance guy—who had survived Hitler. No charges of any kind.
I was there that day & I can still hear the shots & the running footsteps.
