The Vatican insisted Saturday it has done everything possible to try to resolve the 1983 disappearance of an employee's teenage daughter and has no objections to allowing inspection of the basilica tomb of a reputed mobster from a gang purportedly linked to her presumed kidnapping ..

Because she vanished two years after the attempted assassination of Pope John Paul II in St. Peter's Square, some, Vatican officials among them, "shared the prevailing opinion that the kidnapping might have been used by some obscure criminal organization to send messages or enact pressure in the context of the jailing and interrogation of the pope's attacker," Lombardi said, referring to the Turkish gunmen, Mehmet Ali Agca.

why would a good God let this family and this 15 year old suffer like this
“...a reputed mobster from a gang purportedly linked to her presumed kidnapping ...”
They are missing an “alleged” here...
They are using purportedly instead. Basically means the same thing.
You asked. So.
Everything that happens, happens because of necessary and sufficient causes. The only way to prevent a single bad thing from happening from happening is to break the chain of cause and effect. To stop every bad thing from happening, God would have to stop the whole process of cause and effect: not just breaking the "chain" at one point, but breaking every link.
I'm thinking God could effectively prevent all bad actions and consequences by redesigning us as robots, and then prograzmming us so there could be no bad choices: in fact, no choices at all, good or bad. Everything would go according to His will, because He alone would be the only Being in the Universe with a will.
In your opinion, would that be better for us, humanly speaking?
yes. I hate that the depraved get to exercise their “free will” I feel like a puppet unable to go against anything God wants and having to put up with all kinds of suffering and watch others struggle because of the depraved choices of others.
I would rather be in the Garden of Eden before the apple and not have to contend with free will.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts: nor your ways My ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are exalted above the earth, so are My ways exalted above your ways, and My thoughts above your thoughts.” Isaias 55:8-9
yep
and that is why I am not afraid of death; there are fates worse than death
In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve had free will, and used it correctly-— with loving intelligence-— (until they sinned). Jesus Christ also had free will and used it with loving intelligence. Free will isn’t the problem. It makes loving intelligence possible.
Sin is the problem.
We can look forward to heaven, where all will be well. We can also strive to see that God’s will is done “on earth as it is in heaven.”
Jesus was God, it was not a problem for Him.
When He in the end said "Not My will, but Thine be done," he showed that He could have done differently, but He brought Himself into obedience to His Father's will.
Something to ponder deeply and at length. Easy? I think not.
Yes living in this mud-caked flesh is not for the faint of heart.
What are we arguing about exactly?
