We’ve actually done that. Way back when operating systems and SCADA systems were guarded from acquisition by the Soviets, the Soviets were looking hard to acquire some of it to run a pipeline. Their spies finally got a copy. What they didn’t know is we arranged to let them have it, there was a planted bug in it, and months later one of their pipelines blew up in one of the largest non-nuclear explosions ever.
Those where the days when we actually did cool stuff to our enemies. Apparently this wasn’t the only case of bad tech feed to the Soviets. I wonder what else we did.
