Publix subs are the BEST! My fiancee and I will go the extra half mile to Publix over Subway just to get a better sandwich. Any place that uses deli-sliced meat and cheese and fresh baked bread is going to destroy the cookie-cutter sub industry that Subway pimps.
Albertson’s was never really an option in our area. Growing up, Albertson’s was where you went to buy convenience items cheaper than the local 7-11. I do, however, agree that they were great for holiday last minute items.

I'm pretty sure Publix owns Albertson's SuperValu owns Albertson's. They also own Cub Foods, Farm Fresh Markets, Hornbacher's, Jewel Osco, Shop N Save Warehouse Foods, and Shoppers Food & Pharmacy. (I work in the industry.)

Looks like there are no more Albertsons left in the Houston area. Our local store closed about 10 years ago. I was always surprised they stayed in business as long as they did as their prices were so much higher than any of the other grocery stores.

I don't how it happened but Ablys changed its focus a few years ago....less selection...very few worthwhile coupons..and regular prices not very competitive....
Fred Meyer here in the west used to featured terrifc coupons on food items and I've noticed now that they have very really terrific items on sale....
food inflation is here...
stock up when you can...not for surviving TSHTF scenarios but just to stay ahead of inflation...

Seems to be a lot on here that would be happy with another 4 years of FUBO. Pathetic.

The first on in Illinois was in Rockford. My understanding was that Janesville, WI based Woodman's made an informal deal with the owners of local chains Logli and Hilander not to tread on each other's turf. After Eagle went under, Schnuck's bought Logli, and Kroger bught Hilander, both keeping the names. Woodman's no longer felt bound by the agreement, and opened up a wildly successful store on the NE side of Rockford.
