I accept your conflation of amartia with "mis-take," but that's not our common, English meaning of "mistake." We mean, by "mistake," "I shouldn't be held responsible." That is a tremendous problem in our society, and I think we need not only to clearly identify deliberate sin but also to point out that many fairly legitimate "mistakes" are the expected outcome of behaviors that were under the control of the actor.

But here is the common definition of mistake to which I was referring:

Well, if one wants to be egregiously precise - which I do all the time, but I hate it when others do it back! - we could certainly ascribe both "deficient judgment" and "deficient knowledge" to the subject of the article. Both qualities, but especially the former, render her unfit to teach school.

Perhaps the father of the child will marry her, and everything will be good for all of them.

And I would like to emphasize that it is not the lady's being pregnant that is the real problem, but her having sex outside marriage. Pregnancy and childbirth are not sins ... in fact, they are highly desirable, for married women.
