It appears that simple fact checking isn't part of the reporting process at the New York Daily News. Even worse, the story that they declined to fact check was about an explosive situation in Sanford, Florida where supposedly neo-nazis were patrolling the streets in the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting.
The Daily News finally revised their story but only after being contacted by professor William Jacobson of the Legal Insurrection blog who did the fact checking for them with the Sanford police that they should have done in the first place. Here is the Daily News excerpt below the fold that was published before being forced to revise it by the Legal Insurrection fact check:

Drudge has had a link at the top of his page since early this morning to the Miami New Times bullsh1t story. Still there.
Is this quote a fake?

Nutcase Schoep can say whatever he wants but the FACT remains that there are NO neo-nazi patrols in Sanford. BTW, Schoep is probably grandstanding for publicity since his fellow nazis recently started ripping into him for the supposed “crime” of “race-mixing.” Google for more details.

D0n’t know if you are familiar with the “Miami New Times” (I live there).
It is a broadsheet tabloid that is put out for free at a bunch of Miami sites.
They rarely do a worthwhile story, but it is “sensationalist” to the core, and very leftist.
Their advertising is of particular interest... let’s just say it is not very “family oriented” (aka massage “parlors”, strip joints, etc).

I can see fairly clearly an attempt to draw in people to a fake mob scene for propaganda purposes.
Hundreds of good ole white boys show up armed to the teeth and use it for creating Obamas police force, against whites.
I know if I ran a newspaper and some guy who says he’s a Nazi calls me from his mom’s basement in Detroit, I’d run a story based on whatever he said is happening in a small town in Florida! No need to check on so obviously a reliable source.
Also to create a false moral equivalence now that they can’t control the narrative regarding the NBP thugs. Doesn’t even have to be true, just get the meme out there. After all, everyone knows that white neo-nazis just breathing is far more a threat to civil rights than black hate groups putting out bountys on private citizens and attempting to lynch him if they can find him. Heck, at least the KKK adopts highways.

If or when the riots really break out like we’ve seen in the past who will step up with the mea culpa’s? Will NBC say we’re sorry we helped incite riots? The New York daily news which is the paper of unions and immigrants? How about those people running to profit from the situation like Sharpton or Jackson? Politicians maybe?
The sad truth is all those that contribute will get a free pass on this because if the politicians go after them why then they will in turn point fingers at those in power who kept this situation going with their ill advised and even blatantly false statements.
Zero accountability. How do we,the citizens who are going to be in harms way when happens hold people responsible? How do we get laws passed penalizing those who fan the flames of hate?
I know if I or anyone on this board screamed fire in a theater we’d be liable and incarcerated. Is what these people do any different? Why do they have immunity? Why?
