Madison - The state medical school disciplined 20 doctors and fined 11 of them up to $4,000 for handing out sick notes to demonstrators at last year's labor protests, newly released records show.
The records, requested by the Journal Sentinel last year under the state's open records law, show for the first time the extent of the discipline given to those doctors by the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
In several cases, doctors in more senior positions within the school also had to step away from those roles for a period of four months over one year. All the doctors were warned that further actions could result in them being fired.
"In the future, you are expected to adhere to the appropriate standards of doctor/patient interaction," the letters sent to doctors in May and June of last year read.
The discipline records show that the physicians disciplined in most cases insisted they had acted correctly even when accepting the discipline, saying they believed they were helping public employees under stress rather than writing fake sick notes to allow demonstrators to skip work and keep protesting.
The school reviewed 22 cases and found some of the doctors had not participated, Lisa Brunette, a spokeswoman for the school, has said.
The 20 doctors who were disciplined included 11 faculty members, who were docked pay in amounts that ranged between $500 and $4,001 and required to attend ethics training. The money was set aside to pay for an ethics symposium in the medical school on the role of doctors in these situations.

A slap on the hand ping.
Really?
“The money was set aside to pay for an ethics symposium in the medical school on the role of doctors in these situations.”
That is good for a laugh.
Notice that all the docs who “thot they were helping” were at the state medical school-—Any word yet on whether any actual , working, private doctors, who might have charged for the “relief” were involved? And just whose medical insurance paid for the visit/ prescription?
Wisconsin slap on the hand for doctors punishment ping
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
I know my wife, on discovering her primary doctor participated in this ridiculous mess dropped her and selected another primary. This whole recall debacle has divided us here. I have friends and neighbors who won’t speak with me because I bluntly told them I consider the recall to be interfering with my voting rights on the basis that only those who voted in the first place should be allowed to “recall” their vote, not those who hadn’t exercised their right in the first place. This isn’t a recall this is an all new election, and the mob has been given the reins.
Stand strong my FRiend!
You are not alone.

“.....physicians disciplined in most cases insisted they had acted correctly even when accepting the discipline....”
At that very moment I would have fired them. Forgery is a felony.
My impression is...by 2020....folks will be demanding to know what political affiliation their kid’s teachers are....their minister....their mechanic....their barber...and their illegal Latino landscaper guy....might all be. The sad thing is that we will all be harshly divided and just accept this as being normal. I don’t see how we can retreat from this direction, and it’s a sad commentary that we’ve all been dragged this far into a huge mess.
So they are liars as well as leftists.
But I repeat myself.
Dem elites believe they’re above the law... doctors - journalists... Elites of the world unite - throw those chains on the middle class...

I was told years ago that your scenario already was occurring in China... the only people who were trusted were Christians, everyone else was considered suspicious when doing any kind of transaction. Especially the government.
Should have all been fired and lost their Med licenses.
That’s what would have happened if they did this for republicans. In Madison you bet it would have.
If they’ll write illegal orders for ‘staying home sick’, I’m guessing they’d be happy to write questionable prescriptions as well.
Five will get you ten that the unions paid their fines. Which amounted to nothing to begin with..
