He was never an associate professor. That rank means tenured. He was an adjunct. Not, however, a mere cheap wages adjunct as are employed everywhere to teach intro courses. Law schools and business schools bring adjuncts in at a higher level of prestige (after, these are graduate-level professional schools), people who arn’t interested in tenure-track because they have a day job they don’t want to give up but who bring some enhancement to the school. In Obama’s case it was his skin color not his professional accomplishments that was the “enhancement.” Can you say “racism?”

You meant to say, I'm certain, "adjunct" "professor", which is what he was, and which title, I'm sorry to say, effectively guarantees that he did not know whereof he "taught", but was hired on sufferance for internal political reasons.

For historical reference, consider Erich Segal, author of that maudlin little tale "Love Story" in the early 1970s, who was an associate prof in Latin -- not English -- at BoolaBoola U. and was denied tenure (and basically booted) from Yale. At least he wasn't an "adjunct" prof; he'd have been booted long before. Honest scholarship was NOT his particular academic interest.

Of course, these days, Yale is worthless academically. There are no longer ANY grounds for a professor to disagree with the prevailing orthodoxy, and -- perhaps interestingly -- despite Yale's unfortunately huge endowment, that university has decayed physically right along with its intellectual decay, from at minimum 1989, and more likely 1975, through today.

If I could find a way to wager that this situation in New Haven WILL worsen, and some metric by which to demonstrate it, I'd cheerfully put up 5 figures on the wager, on a 5-year payoff, with some objective source being the judge of the outcome.

Careful, m'FRiend...this is NOT the time to bet on busted flushes...as the "Ivies" are, without exception, doing.

Best to you, mate, and FReegards!
