Gingrich Starts To Shift Tone On Romney As Nominee

Gingrich Starts To Shift Tone On Romney As Nominee By NBC’s Alex Moe and Domenico Montanaro FREDERICK, Md. -- Newt Gingrich unveiled a new message to Mitt Romney Monday morning if the former Massachusetts governor does become the Republican nominee: pick a conservative platform.

But speaking on the eve of three primaries that could potentially seal the Republican nomination in Romney’s favor, Gingrich vowed to only exit the race if a candidate gets the required delegates.

“I will be going to Tampa,” he insisted again. But Gingrich's “going to Tampa” line is starting to sound like actually traveling there rather than continuing a campaign there.

“Callista and I will both be going to Tampa, because we are going to fight for a conservative platform,” Gingrich continued. “He [Romney] has to win 1,144 uncontested delegates. At that point, the question is going to become, if he wants our support in the general election, let’s talk about the platform and it better be a solid, 21st century conservative platform based on sound principles that we can stick to.”

Gingrich, speaking to a couple hundred people at a Ford dealership here in Western Maryland, noted that he took the recent Etch-A-Sketch comments from Romney’s communication director “very seriously” and worried that “clever” consultants would hinder a platform conducive to more conservative Republicans.

The former House Speaker also argues the former governor is being awarded too many delegates from Florida, Arizona, and Idaho because the states, he argues, are supposed to be proportional by RNC rules.

Romney's bad behavior Exposed by Seamus

"Romney Loses Nomination Over Dog Abuse? -
Romney was traveling that summer with his wife, five sons,
and Seamus to his parent's cottage on Lake Huron.
But hours into the ride, Seamus apparently suffered diarrhea,
which ran down the back window of the car.
David Kravitz wrote on BlueMassGroup, a liberal blog.
"It also strikes me as classic Romney:
it solves a problem efficiently, in a business-like manner,
and with no regard whatsoever for the suffering
that the solution may cause."

I would so much prefer Newt over that RINO lib-creep, Romney. But if he’s the GOP-e nominee, I’ll vote for him to get rid of that commie, racist, hate-America 0bummer POS, anyday.

This issue utterly false. The Romney family says Seamus liked riding with his cage on top of the station wagon. Nobody at all has claimed otherwise. Romney had even fixed up a windbreak for Seamus.

*** Gingrich Starts To Shift Tone On Romney As Nominee***

Thank you Jim Robinson by your support and the support of other Newt Gingrich supporters now we have Mitt Romney as the GOP nominee.. are you happy now ?

Yes, I am going to say it... WE TOLD YOU SO !

And just think ?

All the empty rhetoric of " anyone but Romney " was all just that, empty rhetoric.

When even just a month ago ? many could have threw their support behind the true conservative in this race Rick Santorum.

Now that opportunity is lost and now we may get Mitt Romney as the GOP nominee... so much for Free Republic being a so called " Social Conservative " website.

Newt Gingrich fooled all of you and played you like a 2nd hand fiddle.

Thanks a lot... then, again, no thanks.

If Romney is our nominee; we are going to live in hell. He will either let Obama win or if he happens to squeak by and win, don’t think he will make our lives hell. He won’t change a thing that Obama has put in place and we will have another illegal POTUS because his father wasn’t born here to distract us while they ruin us.

It’s time to get real and ignore them and really find our own candidates. They are not obeying any rules but we can. Get rid of all the people in office.

The story said Newt was going to convention and Newt said that Romney did not have core beliefs. Look in your mirror and thank yourself. Thank the Lord, this site is here for those of us who have a place to speak about conservatism, liberty and limited government. If your guy was strong, you would not need to worry about Speaker Gingrich. Blame the Gop-e and Rick for dividing the conservatives. If not for Newt; this primary would have already been over with. Newt has helped Rick more than you can admit to.

This one statement is grounds for Santorum never holding any political office again:

“Well, you know, obviously, I’m not privy to what’s going on in someone’s mind,” Santorum said. “Obviously, in my opinion, someone … has a very sick mind who would pursue someone like this. This is clearly a heinous act. You know, there are a lot of people who have a lot of distorted views of reality. It’s a tragic, tragic case. And my heart goes out to the parents, too. I can’t imagine what they’re suffering, losing their son in such a horrific way. All I would say is that, whatever the motive is, it was a malicious one, and a very, very tragic one.”

...that was Santorum commenting on the GUILT of Robert Zimmerman, who hunted Trayvon Martin down like an animal and then shot him in cold blood as Trayvon begged for his life./S

There. Fixed it for you.

AmCon, why are you even on Free Republic, anyway? And if you're such a Constitutionalist, how can you call Santorum a "true conservative" when the guy has done things like fight right-to-work legislation and sided with unions against it, raise the minimum wage, and fight cuts to the food stamp program?

Your tagline is true, but it doesn't necessarily follow that just because a person says in his heart that there IS God, he isn't a fool politically. You are living proof.

Hey coward, if you are going to make a crappy statement about Jim, at least have the guts to ping him at the same time.

The Republican US platform better be worth more than the Wisconsin Republican platform, because in Wisconsin, its not worth more than a warm bucket of spit.
