The 4 times in 16 years doesn’t sound too bad, unless I’m one of those 4. I’d like to know how many raids they’ve done over those 16 years.
I can’t imagine Syracuse has too many of em. If they do one a month then they have an error rate of 2%. Pretty high when lives are at stake. Of course they might do more than that, or less.

Unless it is considered racially discriminatory, I would suggest “reading and writing” tests for at least the 5th grade level for all police officers in NY.

police realized they had the wrong house by looking through his mail. Isn't this a federal crime all by itself?

“raiding a wrong house four times in the last 16 years.”
And he is proud of that record?

After the police realized it was the wrong house, they took the handcuffs off him and left. "Consider this one a warning, citizen."

Auburn Police Chief Gary Giannotta admitted the mistake and told WSYR that he only remembers police raiding a wrong house four times in the last 16 years.Oh! Well, then, nothing to see here, move along! [facepalm]

Maybe the penalty for the
bureaucrats that make these mistakes should along the lines of an eye for a eye - one of
them gets randomly raided by another police department so they are subjected to the same treatment.
That happening a few times to the judges or officers that perpetrate things crimes would maybe have the powers that be take a little pause and little care before issuing or conducting one of these warrants.
BTW, what is so all fired important with these raids that Its necessary to put the public and LEOs in danger with these sort of tactics?

Where's the accountability? I'm sure there's away to pinpoint the house you're going to raid before you do it. Haven't these guys heard of google or yahoo maps?

How long would a bank teller keep his job if he deposited $1,000,000 into the wrong account. Would he be permitted four “foul up”s of that magnitiude in sixteen years?
