Rick Santorum is Right, It Takes a Family. Now, It Will Take a President

... I am deeply concerned... The dream called American is threatened. I share the growing sense that it is not because the American people have lost that dream, but, at least partially, because we have the wrong leaders in political office...

I am disturbed to once again hear and read the mantra of the main stream media that the 2012 Presidential campaign is over. You know the drill; that Mitt Romney is the nominee to face President Obama and anyone who feels differently should stop their efforts and sing the song of the establishment...

The lyrics have gone through revisions. He has been the presumptive nominee, the inevitable nominee, the probable nominee and now the nominee by default based on "the Math". It is the same old song and I am tired of it.

..While many are looking for a "consistent conservative", I want a candidate who has moral coherence; and recognizes the necessary moral foundations of a free and just society.

There is a political dualism in establishment Republican circles - the idea that there are "social" and "economic" issues and they must be kept separate. They cannot be kept separate. Only free people with moral values can ensure a truly free market. Freedom is a good of the human person.

I find such a moral coherence in Rick Santorum. He does not separate social and economic issues. He knows that the reason we care about expanding economic opportunity is because we respect the dignity of every human person.

His economic policy seeks to expand participation in the market economy while respecting fairness in competition. He affirms the dignity of all work because of the dignity of the human worker. He insists that economic policy respect human initiative, promote mediating structures and be built from the bottom up...

There are many voices pointing out the failures of government but few voices articulating a vision for good governance. We desperately need true leaders, intelligent men and women of conviction and courage, who will impart such a vision and help us all to resuscitate the dream called America.

Santorum does not separate social and economic issues. He is morally coherent. He has the communications skills needed to contend in the general election with President Barack Obama. His blue collar identification and background will eviscerate the Obama reelection campaign's 1% strategy of class warfare. The President would be forced to run on ideas and record.

I have followed the 2012 Presidential primary campaign closely because I believe the 2012 election is the most important Presidential election in my lifetime. Rick Santorum was right, it takes a Family. Now, It Will Take a President Who Can Lead our National Recovery.

Here's GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum on "Face the Nation," assessing shooter George Zimmerman's mental health. "Someone has a very sick mind who would pursue someone like this, Santorum said. "This is clearly a heinous act. You know, there are a lot of people who have a lot of distorted views of reality...And my heart goes out to the parents, too. I can't imagine what they're suffering, losing their son in such a horrific way. All I would say is that, whatever the motive is, it was a malicious one."

The social issues are the most important issues of all. Will God continue to bless our country, if we murder babies, and lose our morals in other areas?

Unfortunately, the libertarians here in FR simply don't seem capable of understanding this very simple truth. Without morality, based on religious belief, you cannot have real freedom. It all breaks down into selfish people saying, "It's all about me." Families break up, children have no fathers in the house, schools refrain from teaching ANYTHING about proper behavior and decency, and pretty soon you have the kind of country we are stuck with now.

Rick has NEVER said that the government needs to impose morality on the people. That's the kind of thing Obama thinks. What he has said is that we need to speak out and persuade people that if you want a happy life, family, friends, and a functioning society, then a suffienct number of people have to learn how to observe the moral laws, through SELF-DISCIPLINE. The only alternative is total breakdown and discipline by the police and the political masters.

Mr. Newt is still in this...don’t be fooled by Santorum. He has presented no concrete ideas as to reforming the massive mess in Washington. He was part of the downfall after Mr. Newt left.

Santorum in not the solution, but I appreciate him slowing Mitt down. The convention will be the nominating answer, and Santorum will not be the nominee.

“.....resuscitate the dream called America.”

Saintorum demonstrates his ability to resuscitate America:

Santorum will not be nominated and this mess is going to a contested convention.

One can throw all the flowers they want to upon a grave, it will not bring back the dead.

“the idea that there are “social” and “economic” issues and they must be kept separate. They cannot be kept separate.”

The writer is right about “Social” and “Economic (or Fiscal)” issues and that’s why we need Newt he is the only Fiscally and Socially Conservative in the race. Of course we need even more in a President, vision, knowledge of foreign affairs, an energy policy, but then again all the more reason for Newt.

After Tuesday and this month alone, stick a fork in Santorum, He's done. Then we can get on with the task of beating Obama. Since that no longer gets much attention around here.

Senator "sick mind" has communication skills? I think not.

"I don't care what the unemployment rate is going to be." - "St." Santorum campaigning in Illinois last month.
