I hope you meant “recounting” stories. If she’s “recanting” stories I would suggest she’s probably going senile.

She usually calls late at night with a memory to share. She was told she could keep her job only if she joined the party. She refused. She didn’t talk much about her experiences when we were growing up. Now, seems times are triggering those experiences.
