Israeli-Azerbaijan Deal Leaked, Bolton Blames Obama

According to a new article in Foreign Policy, Israel has, through a longtime but recently deepened relationship with Azerbaijan, gained access to airfields in a country bordering Iran, which it could use to make more feasible its attack on Iran. FP reports:
In 2009, the deputy chief of mission of the U.S. embassy in Baku, Donald Lu, sent a cable to the State Department’s headquarters in Foggy Bottom titled “Azerbaijan’s discreet symbiosis with Israel.” The memo, later released by WikiLeaks, quotes Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev as describing his country’s relationship with the Jewish state as an iceberg: “nine-tenths of it is below the surface.”
Why does it matter? Because Azerbaijan is strategically located on Iran’s northern border and, according to several high-level sources I’ve spoken with inside the U.S. government, Obama administration officials now believe that the “submerged” aspect of the Israeli-Azerbaijani alliance — the security cooperation between the two countries — is heightening the risks of an Israeli strike on Iran. . . . “The Israelis have bought an airfield,” a senior administration official told me in early February, “and the airfield is called Azerbaijan.”

America’s allies need to learn. You can no longer trust America. We’re not “their daddy’s” America anymore.
The Israelis are not stupid. If they gave Obama any information you can be sure that it was disinformation.
The bottom line is that Israel is on its own. There is no way that Obama will risk his reelection by getting involved in a shooting war in the narrow confines of the Persian Gulf with an enemy that is well armed with shore to ship missiles. The US could lose ships and suffer unacceptable causalities. Despite all the tough talk Iran will have their nuclear weapons. The Obama administration will do all they can to prevent an Israeli strike.
You can also bet that Obama will not hesitate to shoot down Israeli planes.

I agree with you. However, conversely I believe that Mr. Netanyahu will do everything in his power, obviously, to protect Israel first and second to make sure that Zero does not get re-elected. Just as we fear 4 more years of Obama, the Israelis are just as fearful. I have great faith that Bibi will do what needs to be done to circumvent Obama’s re-election. It doesn’t hurt that it seems that he personally hates his guts as well!
Next leak the place. Air bases in Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan to Tehran, Iran 250 miles at 600 mph 25 minutes flight time without flying over any other countries.
Israel to Tehran 800 miles at 600 mph, 1 hour 15 minutes flight time and fly over two other countries. 1,600 mile round trip.
Iran should know where the attacks were going. Now the US gives the time frame and possibly where the attacks would be coming from.
A nice gift to Iran just in time for Easter for the muzzies.
Anyway, Bibi does not have lop-sided support even among Jews in America and Israel. He and Ehud Barak are truly on their own.
I am not sure if the atmosphere had changed since then, but it was indeed the situation several months ago.

Just a thought here, but I’m pretty certain that the Israelis know that the jug-eared moron has no interest in assisting them, so could this be a “head fake”? I could easily see the Israelis providing this Azerbaijan airfield deal as a ploy to see if the Amateur Hour Rejects at the White House would give it up... and as predicted, the evil SOBs did what was expected.
Azerbaijan, a 95% Muslim nation, is a closer ally to Israel than we are, that is sad.
This is what he was hired for.

Well, the leaks came from the US government per all sources. It's reasonable to blame the head of that government. Though I acknowledge that his management skills are such than it could be done without his knowledge, and without reprecussions.
