Thanks AAC. Federal land acquisition and disposal has certainly had a, er, checkered past; the more recent, the more checkered. Particularly the land grab by Bent Willie in Utah. Under the auspices of the "Antiquities Act" the feral government via executive fiat has taken larger and larger parcels of land to establish "monuments". So, just how much land is needed to create a monument? Three thousand square miles in Utah is a good example. As usual the president, in these cases, oversteps the original "intent" of the Act. Big surprise there, eh?
As an aside: While scouting around for feral government land grabs I noticed that Jug Ears is eyeing on no less than 13 MILLION ACRES for "monuments".
