WHY GOP ELITES FEAR A BROKERED CONVENTION.
Tea Party Tribune ^ | March 26, 2012 | Mr. Curmudgeon

Armies of GOP establishment-friendly commentators tell us the Republican primary process is ugly and self-destructive. Further, they insist should Romney prove incapable of gathering the necessary delegates to secure a first-ballot nomination, horror of horrors, it will result in a tumultuous brokered convention.“The big change in American politics over the past two decades has been the decline of followership,” writes David Frum, the voice of the Republican establishment at CNN.com. “Party members expect the party to serve them – one major reason that both parties have drifted to the ideological extremes since the 1970s.

“That expectation would only be intensified and concentrated in a party convention with Fox News and talk radio whipping and riling the delegates into angry emotionalism.

Party members expect the party to serve them,

Yes, 'WeThePeople' - the way this country was designed. And NEWT is the 'WeThePeople' candidate!

Elites and liberals don't serve anybody but themselves!

Imagine that. Party members want the party to serve them. How dare they!

What ideological extremes is Frum talking about? The one that has allowed the government to grow larger every year?

Toolbag.

I don’t care for Newt he’s just a better cammo’d rhino to me (but better than the current potus.) That said if we can act civil a brokered convention may be just what conservatives need. I can think of many conservatives from outside the race I’d line up for and more than that all of us would line up for.

From my vantage point, I see paulbots loading up a portion of delegates so that after vote 1, when released, all mayhem can ensue...

Yes, I like the We, the people, Newt. I just voted.

Can someone post it on Sarah Palin’s face book-there are a lot of Newt supporters there.

They just don’t get it. Allusions to aristocratic behavior are fully warranted in this case because they have come to believe that with their position vests them with the right to decide whats best and tell us to lump it.

We know where this nation is heading, we know where they are willing to let Obama take us, and we damn sure know that we don’t want to go there.

Somebody needs to get in there and slam on the brakes! The people who build things, run businesses, make payrolls, and all the real workers who keep this country moving need to understand where this is all heading and start taking the situation more seriously.

A brokered convention could nominate moderates such as Christy, Pawlenty, Daniels, Huntsman....or....more conservative such as Pence, Bolton, Bachmann, Palin, or even Cain. Or it could be a complete surprise such as Trump.

“The big change in American politics over the past two decades has been the decline of followership,”

He forgot to mention that that change was a direct result of a remarkable decline in GOP leadership. Not to mention a complete failure in representation.

Tea Party playing rope-a dope with the Dems. Keep them guessing as to who our nominee will be. I haven’t seen a good old fashioned convention in many years. It will make great theater and will produce a winner.

Great find! Thanks!

As usual, David Frum is looking at the wreckage of the formerly great Republican Party and paying no attention to the reason for the wreck.

The wreck is what we call RINO elite or GOP elite.

What sane person chooses to follow a wreck? Well, maybe the Romney tow-truck endorsers.

Instead of Frumming around the RINO Wreck, the GOP-e need to drop Romney like a hot potato as soon as THE NINE SUPREMES announce their verdict.

Romney, the godfather of Obama”care,” cannot possibly convince voters that Romney can defeat Obama on the Obama”care” topic.

A brokered convention would be a good thing, no matter who or what comes out of it.

The GOP Elite don’t want such a convention, but then we don’t want them.

Where has the GOP Elite shown us ANY leadership or backbone? Where are the investigations, the special prosecutors, the indictments? Why hasn’t ANY of Obummer’s czars, thugs or illegal actions come up for impeachment? (Who cares if the Senate won’t go along; at least make the effort!)

The GOP Elite want to play kissy-face with the Dems while the country sinks into the mud. To hell with that and to hell with them!
