One of my sisters gave me a boat load of iris corms..I didn’t get them in the ground.

I really need to see if any of them can be salvaged.

Sorry about the ruffian dog.

Solly has Jackie.. so she has company.

She is like a bad little kid.

Good as gold or better when your eyes are on her..When they are off she is looking for mischief.

The Beethoven piece at the beginning in a teenage piece, but here is the last movement of his last sonata, which is in theme-and-variations format. He was totally deaf by this time. Beethoven uses diminution technique, which means that each variation has faster note values.

The theme has one note per pulse, and the first variation has 3 notes per pulse. Each variation has more notes per pulse. The shock comes at 6:01 where the variation with 5 syncopated notes per pulse is nothing less than jazz! The joy just leaps off the page! The left hand at 7:21 is pure boogie-woogie.

At 8:53 the 6-notes-to-the-pulse variation is almost like an out of body experience. You can barely find the harmonies that underlie the theme. It reminds me of Michael Oldfield.

Beethoven ends the piece, not with a long held note, but a rest. The silence is part of the piece.

Beethoven: Piano Sonata in C minor, Op. 111, Finale
