Santorum told a crowd in San Antonio, according to NBC News

Okay, I'm a Newt all the way to Tampa supporter. But, to be fair to Santorum, all we have is this quote according to NBC News. This would be such a crazy thing for a candidate to say that I'll wait for a more reliable source.

I don’t love Romney, but Santorum’s statement is really over the shark.

I never thought Santorum was a conservative in the modern American sense of a personally religious classical liberal who believes in individual liberty and God, and that individual liberty and economic liberty are intertwined with religious liberty.

Santorum is an ultramontane Catholic pining for Pio Nono and the 19th century church that denounced capitalism and the individual liberty of America as a heresy.

The best way to think of Santorum is as some sort of Christian Socialist — which makes his preference of socialist Obama over the very American Romney understandable, if not palatable.

Santorum is finished in the Republican party and with the Tea Party. He’s starting to make Pat Buchanan look like a team player.

But this is exactly what you newt supporters say every day here. That you’d rather Obama wins, you won’t vote for mitt.

And then somehow you won’t support Rick. He believes what some of you believe.

Me, I will vote ABO if it comes to that, but at least I am out with my voice, keyboard, car, and money fighting against the Chosen Nominee for us. Supporting newt at this point is like supporting Romney.

This is what happens to the serious man without a plan. The moral vanity brigade is running off the rails.

“Go Newt!”

It’s going to be tough trying to decide which GOP candidate sucks the least.

Rick’s just reading FR.

There many are posts throughout the forum with people saying they weren’t going to vote for Romney if he was the nominee or that we might as well keep Obama since Mitt and Barack were so much alike. There’s no difference between THOSE comments and what Rick state.

Wow!

It’s a good thing for Saintorum that he became a politician, he would have starved to death as a lawyer.

I wonder how long before Obama will put out an ad, using this to show Saintorum endorsing him.

Sorry folks, but that is just nuts.

Hillary Clinton would be better than Obama...Santorum is wrong.

It was an idiot thing for little Ricky to say, but it makes no difference really. If Romney is nominated, Obama will be elected.

And this is exactly why Newt should be the frontrunner right now, but for some reason many Republicans just refuse to vote for him. He would be a good President and MUCH MUCH better then Obama, he would crush Obama in any debate. Santorum seems like a good guy but saying stuff like this, considering he endorsed Romney in 2008, shocks me. ANYONE is better then Obama, ANYONE..now as much as I can’t stand Romney, even he is slightly better then Obama. If we have 4 more years of Obama we won’t have a country anymore. Obama will officially turn this great country into Greece. Its the GOP RINO’S fault for pushing Romney so badly instead of a true Conservative who would unite us all together

If that be more than taken from context, Santorum won’t even be a footnote at the convention.
If he only has the bitter dregs of his cup may he choke on them.

I’m sick of the hypocrisy. Reading Santorum’s quote, it’s clear what the point was: There is NO difference between Romney and Obama, and that when faced with the choice of a Socialist/Marxist and Obama-lite, people will always choose the real thing everytime.

MANY people here have said the exact same thing on numerous occasions that Romney is not an acceptable alternative to Obama. And that is what Santorum is essentially saying here. And yet, the FR attacks on Rick continue to make him look like the quote is something bad, when it is in fact the truth.

FUMR! NO ROMNEY, NO WAY!

I hate to inform you people, but Santorum has a point.

If you elect a flaming liberal Republican, he WILL be able to get a lot of Establishment Republicans to support his agenda (which will not differ much from Obama). That is PRECISELY why we have to deal with the EPA, OSHA, crazy ‘civil rights’ laws, the Wheelchair Law, and nearly a blanket Amnesty. They were ALL signed in by liberal Republicans (Nixon, and both Bushes)

The Dems don’t even try that crap when they run things (other than the healthcare law, but that’s already on the books and only an IDIOT would believe that Romney will fight it). The Dems would rather let the Republicans step in the crap, rather than take the heat for it themselves.

Santorum’s ‘scorched Earth policy’. 0bama will be more than happy to use Rick’s statement as fodder during his campaign. The GOP needs to get the word out that ambushing itself is 0bama’s pathway to four more years.

Tweet from Newt Gingrich retweeted by his campaign manager:

“Rick Santorum is dead wrong. Any GOP nominee will be better than Obama.”

Santorum is 100% correct. Can someone explain the differences between Romney and Obummer when it gets down it. Romney has made little issue of Obamacare. Romney is all for Cap and Tax. Romney is all for Man Made Global Warming. Romney is all for Mandates to force citizens to obey Govt. Romney is all for Abortion. Romney won’t even call Obummer a Socialist because his politics have mirrored his too closely. I don’t care what he says today. Just look at what he has actually done in his past.

Romney blows and everyone knows it. Even you folks here feigning “outrage” at Santorum finally saying out loud what we all have been saying here privately know he is right. Romney is a one way ticket to catastrophic failure in November.

Maybe people will start listening to me but I doubt it. Time to unite and focus on the House and Senate. Win a veto proof majority and shove it down Romney’s throat.

Words fail? Words fail at all the posters on this thread who have the vapors over a simple statement that is true.

He’s saying if you don’t give voters a distinct choice, voters will stick with the guy they know vs someone who’s almost the same but has indicated they can change at will (etch a sketch reference)

I swear too many of you sound like a bunch of highschool girls, screaming OMG, OMG, OMG, with your hair on fire.

READ AND COMPREHEND ......

or.....you can all just keep bashing Santorum over nothing

.....which was really the point of this thread all along wasn’t it?
