A legislative committee has signed off on a rule which allows concealed carry permit holders from other states to carry concealed in Wisconsin, even though those states may have looser training requirements. Brian OKeefe with the state Department of Justice told lawmakers on Tuesday that the agency has been able to keep up with demand for concealed carry permits. Were meeting all our statutory requirements, OKeefe told members of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules. Right now, on average, its probably about ten days we can turn them (permit requests) around. About 100,000 applications have been received.
The JCAR approved an emergency rule allowing people issued permits in other states to carry concealed here, over the objections of Democrats on the panel. To let people under reciprocity come in with a lesser degree of training and review than is required of our own citizens I think is absolutely wrong, said state Senator Fred Risser.
There is no requirement in the statute for other states training to be a factor in our recognition of our state, so we do not include that in our assessment of whether we recognize or not, OKeefe explained.
After this Zimmerman thing, the gun-grabbers are out in force.
I can’t figure Wisconsin out, but this one makes sense and is a good sign...
How great for WI! How about RI? drat
In 1998, the people of Wisconsin added the following to their state constitution:
The people have the right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation or any other lawful purpose.
The courts and the legislature are playing catch-up.

Move to Madison if you want to get really screwed up.
I live in Wisconsin and can’t understand those people down there.
I live in WI. What do you want help figuring out? Pretty up on the politics and stuff here.
It seems a little schitzo... but, now that I think about it, so do many states...
Ah, never mind. They'll never learn.
Wisconsin Concealed Carry Reciprocity ping
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
I'll take you up on that! Where can I find the actual
“legalese” on this. I want to know if this means my non-res
Fl permit is good. I am just south of Wis and am signed up
to take a Utah course this wkend just to be able to carry in
Wis. If this means I don't need it, I'll save my money!
In a nutshell, you get your Utah permit, you can carry here no problem.
RE: Fred Risser mentioned at end of article. That old gasbag has been feeding at the public trough as a senator since about 1965. Good grief. Socialism is their religion. They never tire of it.
