Why on earth did President Obama offer algae as a solution to America's energy problems? I suspect that if he could, he would press the rewind button and erase the comment, as it has exposed him to widespread ridicule from heavyweights like Charles Krauthammer. But the question remains: why bring it up at all?
An answer may lie in his addiction to crony capitalism. Andrew Stiles of the Washington Free Beacon reports:
Solazyme, a San Francisco-based firm that specializes in the plant matter, has received more than $25 million in federal grants and contracts as part of Obama administration's controversial stimulus package, and is poised to receive millions more as part of the president's recent efforts to promote green biofuels such as algae.
The firm employs a former member of the Obama-Biden transition team who, according to one online bio, "played a key role in developing the energy provisions in the economic stimulus bill."
TJ Glauthier, who is listed as a "strategic adviser" and corporate board member, previously held a number of high-ranking posts in the Clinton Administration, including deputy secretary and chief operating officer of the U.S. Department of Energy.

Can’t we do something with these damn peas??
FOLLOW THE MONEY FOLKS:
Glauthier’s relationship with Democratic lawmakers has been beneficial. Since 2007, he has donated nearly $8,000 to Democratic candidates and committees, including $2,500 to Obama.
Solazyme’s other board members and top executives have given much more.
In total, Solazyme officials have contributed at least $360,000 to Democrats since 2007.

Is there any end to the criminal activity taking place in the White House?
I knew this had to be the case,
based on history.
EVERY policy of 0bama’s has been with the direct intent of
taking from those that don’t support him/communism
and giving it to those who do.
The only two enumerated impeachable crimes under Article II, Section 4 of he Constitution are treason and bibery. The Illegal, being a cronic, repeated bribe taker ought to be impeached for bribe taking alone.
Indeed, his bribe taking began shotly after he was elected to the U.S. Senate. When he was in the Illinois Senate Moochelle was working for the University of Chicago Hospitals Corporation (UCHC) in a public relations position that paid a little more then $100,000/yr. Shortly after the Illegal was elcteed to the U. S. Senate Moochelle was promoted to a PR vice president’s position and had her salary bumped up to a little over $300,000/yr. Then, miracle of miracles, the Illegal got UCHC a $1,200,000 earmark. Any doubt that Moocheele’s job was a sinecure ended when she and th Illegal went to the White House and UCHC eliminated it.
If the aftersaid UCHC-Barack-Moochelle deal wasn’t a blatant bribe, then why was one of the crimes for which the hapless Rod Blagojevich got convicted a very similar transaction in which he promised one or more official favors in return for his wife getting a lucrative job???
The Chicagoization of America continues.
Because they were running out of failing solar and wind energy companies to launder chunks of our money through?
Green algae as energy? Maybe the President once thought magic mushrooms were brain food, too.
SILLY CONSERVATIVES...
Crony Capitalism isn’t actually “Crony Capitalism” when done-while-Democrat. Don’t you understand that by now?
Just ask ANYONE at the NYTimes, or an NBC Newsroom!
Listening to politicians speak about energy makes as much sense as listening to someone from Hollywood on quantum mechanics.
For the most part these ego driven beasts are lawyers and nothing in law school is geared towards educating someone in energy use, storage, generation etc. Law schools teach deceit and of course love Saul Alinsky. I still want to pee on his grave, where is it?
Why on earth would we look to lawyers/politicians for energy policy? All they do is make laws which get in the way.
I will give Barry a bit of a pass on this one because being scum he has some knowledge of pond scum.
