CBC wants Trayvon Martin's death investigated as potential hate crime

The Congressional Black Caucus wants the Justice Department to investigate the shooting death of a 17-year-old, unarmed black Florida high school student as a potential hate crime.

“This case compromises the integrity of our legal system and sets a horrific precedent of vigilante justice,” Congressional Black Caucus Chair Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) said in a statement. “Members of the Congressional Black Caucus stand together in the name of justice for Trayvon. As a nation we cannot, should not, and will not ignore, Trayvon’s brutal murder and the inconceivable fact that his killer remains free. Contrary to the flippant way this case has been handled, his life had meaning and purpose. Trayvon had a family, friends and a future all taken away because of the color of his skin

It may be a hate crime, but it’s more likely nothing but a blowhard itching for a fight who had a gun. George Zimmerman is clearly not an innocent victim who resorted to self defense.

I don't know what happened here, none of us really do but if people seem to act as though they have no compassion for the dead kid's family one need only look to the liberals for the cause. We've become so conditioned to liberals using any crime involving a gun as an argument against gun ownership. As soon as a shooting happens, everyone gets defensive instead of sympathetic.

That's unfortunate that PD is operating that way. At our PD our race ratios of traffic stops mirror our local populace's race ratios, even though our town is on a major highway. You get stopped in my town if you do something wrong….not if you look funny.
I'm curious though, how long were you detained each time? Were you handcuffed? Were you forced out of your vehicle? Did the officers forcefully search your vehicle? Were you given any frivolous traffic citations?

Unfortunately, that's the only reason this has legs. The ONLY reason this has legs. How many times a day does this happen across the US?

Over the weekend there were 10 people killed and 49 people injured in shootings in Chicago including a 6yo girl. You had black-on-black, black-on-Hispanic, Hispanic-on-Hispanic and Hispanic-on-black for the perps. My God, 59 people killed or wounded in an American city over the span of 48 hours.

If you go to Google News right now and query on: chicago killings you'll get 81 hits. If you query on: sanford zimmerman you'll get 1833 hits. And this is only because it is a perceived white-on-black killing and the race pimps are out in force. Otherwise it probably wouldn't have even made the news. Now we have Sharpton coming to Sanford. Ya, that ought to cool things down.

The police where there within minutes. They found Zimmerman bleeding from wounds to the face and the back of the head. Trayvon was dead. Everyone agrees that there was a fight.

Zimmerman says that he was attacked and that it was self defense.

The police say all the physical evidence is consistent with Zimmerman's story.

Young men attack people with little provocation all the time. for being just "looked at wrong" or for being "disrespected".

Trayvon was on a weeks suspension from his High School. His father refuses to say why. Perhaps it was for drawing a picture of a gun. I do not know.

To claim that this cannot be self defense is simply being manipulated by the media, who are working very hard to make this a racial murder instead of self defense.

Here's a clue sparky.....

If you have a gun, follow and then approach an unarmed person who doesn't know you and a struggle ensues, you are not defending yourself if you then shoot and kill the unarmed person you followed and accosted.

Based on the known facts - the kid was carrying candy and iced tea and had every right to be where he was -- zimmerman was told by the 911 op to back off -- zimmerman approached the kid --- zimmerman shot the kid --- this should be a slam dunk -- murder.
