Checked your list. Many more stations than I remember from my time up there. I wonder what happened to WDOT?
What is this all about again? I’ve forgotten!!!!!
If they can fire the station for not changing the programming, can the students fire the school for preaching homosexuality?
I didn't know that a catamount was a 60 year old woman that looked for teenage boys {this will bring hell fire and damnation from both FReepers that live in Vermont}.
Such a shame that the NE, the states that started this country and fought against slavery have turned into such pussies and liberal scum {not 100% but a majority}.
UVM is an evil place. My long association began there in the late ‘60s. Graduated served as alumni and then sent my first born daughter to visit fiends in the dorm for a weekend. Turns out the sweep mates were all lesbians hot for my freaked out child.
UVM is an evil place in a fools paradise
Why don’t they all buy a radio with an OFF button?
Yes, why don’t they.
Someone on a radio board wrote:
“>>Is a station, using the PUBLICLY OWNED AIRWAVES, “serving the public interest, convenience and necessity” by
airing 3 hour blocks of distant satellite fed programs that are partisan political propaganda?”
MY RESPONSE:
I agree. Let’s shut down NPR and liberal radio :)
(kidding, but you get the point)
People like Juan Williams (in his books, etc.) praise our freedom of speech, and you have freedom of choice,
too—to like or dislike shows whether it’s by changing the station or tuning it off,
boycotting advertisers, etc. Rush makes over $50 million a year by serving his audience.
Don’t like it, then go to taxpayer-funded (...in part...) NPR.
And, want a fairness doctrine? That means NPR would air as much conservative content as liberal.
If Ed Schultz gets an audience as big as Rush, he should get a salary as big as Rush.
So be it. America, home of the free marketplace of ideas and where merit and demand
can create success.
WDOT has been at different spots on the dial...these days I think the call letters are at 95.7 in Danville (Northeast Kingdom?) though for awhile an oldies station at 96.7 was
calling itself WDOT even thought it had different call letters. I think WDOT may have been at AM 1390 years ago...?
>>WDOT-FM 95.7 MHz
Danville, Vermont
“The Point”
Sounds like they’re relaying an “adult album alternative”
station
2008:
>>A venerable VERMONT station brand is back on the air in the Burlington market, as Vox’s WXZO (96.7 Willsboro NY) flipped last Wednesday (Sep. 17) at 9 AM from talker “the Zone” to oldies as “True Oldies 96.7 DOT-FM.”
Credit Vox honcho Ken Barlow for this one - the original WDOT (then on 1400, now WCAT 1390) was one of his first stops in the business as a young DJ, and the new DOT-FM brings together several WDOT alumni: after Don Imus
btw I think Vox is the company that owns WBEC Pittsfield MA—one of the two stations that dropped Rush last week.
After midnight I would listen to either WKBW-Buffalo, WWVA-Wheeling or “The Voice of The Great Plains”, WOWO.
yes...1390 or 1400 at the time probably.
These days WKBW is WWKB, a progressive talk station that can reach New England at night. WWVA a powerful station now
doing conservative talk. WOWO no longer has the night signal it used to (they turned down to allow WLIB NYC, on the same
freq., power up) but now WOWO is conservative talk and their
new FM sister station carries that too
Odd connections for some of the stations mentioned... I went to school just outside of Burlington, I lived a couple of blocks from WLIB in Woodside for 30 years and I now live in WV.
Stranger than fiction. lol
UPDATE: The association UVM has with its sports to WVMT
will continue. Protest failed. The protestors were not really Rush listeners but one said they’d “heard clips”. WVMT
says if they don’t like Rush they can tune to another station. Freedom of speech, freedom of choice. And if
UVM sports airs on the same station that airs el Rushbo,
so be it.
