I think we need to examine the mechanism of congress to find explications for their consistent inability to either read the bills they vote for or support tyrannical power grabs.

Only when we understand the problem will we be in a position to propose constructive solutions. Only when we understand the system as is will we be able to bring about constructive solutions.

For example:

Off Hand I am forced to assume to most congresspeople never bothered to read this act before voting for it.

I suspect this is due to the sheer volume of acts they are required to pass on a regular basis makes careful reading an analyzes of each one infesable. Obvious solution: Dramatically cut down on the rolls & responsibly of congress so that their “work” can actually be done with some level of scrutiny.
