(CNN) Despite a statement from Rick Santorum's campaign touting Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley's vote for the candidate, the governor's office said Tuesday that Bentley will not be publicly endorsing a candidate for the state's primary.

By contrast, Newt has received true endorsements and help in campaigning in the past and present by the like of Barry Goldwater, Dr. Thomas Sowell, Fred Thompson, Michael Reagan, Art Laffer, Herman Cain, Rick Perry and countless others...
Sounds like more of a strategic vote to hose Romney.
But Bentley's office responded with a statement saying his vote was not an official endorsement.
While he views Santorum as “the most conservative candidate,” he “believes a vote is a personal decision that should be based on a voter's values and principles, not on someone else’s opinion,” according to the statement sent out by Bentley's communications director, Jeremy King.
“The Governor was asked as a voter who he would vote for, and he answered that he had personally chosen to vote for Rick Santorum. The Republican primary features a strong pool of candidates, and Governor Bentley has made it clear he will fully support the Republican nominee chosen by the people.”]
In other words, he must already be getting massive flack over Santorum’s embellishing ways!
How did the way the Gov voted become known in the 1st place ???
A non-endorsement endorsement.
Most likely, not wanting to antagonize Romney or Gingrich.
Sounds like the Governor believes in Pale Pastels, not Bold Colors.
All I gotta say is, I don’t care whether Santorum or Gingrich wins Alabama and Mississippi. We’d just better hope Romney doesn’t pull off an upset in either of these states. His competitiveness in the polls leading up to these primary races continue to make me uncomfortable.
Santorum and Newt and Paul are all wasting money for ego at this point. No one has a clear lead but Romney. No matter who you or I personally favored or supported, these non-Romney fellas needed much better organization earlier in the process. The battle is over Obama not other Repubs anymore. Get focused on the real game, not this sideshow.
Its true. Can Newt get the nomination? Does Santorum have a better chance? Many people have told me they are holding their noses and voting for Romney because they think he has the best chance to beat BHO. fYI!
P.S. I will not vote for Romney.
The battle is not over. The only thing that is absolutely clear is that just like with loser McCain, Romney is overwhelmingly the ONE and only candidate that the MAJORITY of Republicans do NOT want to be the nominee.
I will not subMit. I will not vote for a socialist. That is why at the very least, we must have a brokered convention and if not Newt or Rick - we must “broker” an acceptable candidate.
Paul should definitely get out.
