The ideas behind taking down the MSM - or as I like to think - making it responsible - came from this site....
I think that Freerepublic has done alot to shine the light of truth on the MSM. We have shown people that the MSM are a bunch of liars who want to advance their leftist agenda.
Its called “the off switch” and it’s guaranteed to be lethal to the Legacy media. Use it often.

I think you're right. FR has a role in shining the light where these roaches are hiding in the dark. But like Breitbart, some people, doesn't even have to be many, with the kind of self-contained talents he exhibited, need to break from the pack and affirmatively go after them.
But FR has broken many stories before the conservative media runs with it. We are ahead of the game on many fronts.
That's what first attracted me to this site. It's impressive. I've learned a lot. It's a place to learn and contribute to others' learning.
I have learned a lot here and I am continuing to learn new things.

I don't know who Bill Whittle or Pajamasmedia are, but I'm impressed.
