The Alabama GOP will host the first-ever presidential forum in the state tonight in the Alabama Theatre.
Republican candidates Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum have confirmed they will attend.
Doors to the Alabama Theatre will open at 3:30 p.m. and the forum will begin at 5:30 p.m. The forum is open to the public and free. There are 2,000 seats in the historic Alabama Theatre and they will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
In addition to live streaming this event, FOX6 News and staff will live tweet from the Alabama Theatre. You may follow us from this story as well as @myfoxal and on Facebook.
Alabama has 50 delegates at stake on Tuesday and Mississippi has 40. The combined 90 delegates are very attractive to the presidential candidates for different reasons.
Romney wants to build on his delegate lead and show he can do well in the South. Santorum wants to make himself the conservative alternative to Romney. Gingrich and Paul each want as many delegates as possible to keep their campaigns rolling into the rest of the spring
GO NEWT!!!!
THANKS VERY MUCH!
save for later

I didn’t tune in to watch a speech by Santorum.
I am listening to little Ricky’s speech and I am already becoming ill.
I’ll take Ricky over Mitt. But I’m supporting Newt.
Thank God Santorum finally shut up, he was putting me to sleep.
Darn! My MacBook Pro says I’m “missing the plugin” and Mrs. Wasp’s Windows 7 machine just shows “the red X.” We don’t do twitter just yet so I guess I’ll have to watch the FR commentary if there’s any. Oh well...
All I’m gettin on that link is a video that says it’s live Streaming that is so dark I can hardly see it and the sound is nuthin but Mandolins plinkin and plunkin. I can make out the stage, but nobody’s speechin or debatin!!!
Just saw Santorum at the end. He looked, as always, mildly constipated with that sour look. It’s just really such a turn off. He’s a good guy, but just doesn’t have the timber ...
Newt — brilliant as always, extemporaneous, soaring ....everything you could want in a President. His answer to how HE would lead us back to God — prolific. It was dignified, patriotic without being preachy. Exactly what we need — exactly WHO would best lead us ALL in such matters.
Sorry — I am just over the moon for NEWT. I pray Alabamians do not disappoint and fall sway to the Establishment Fool.
Sorry you missed it - it was a great presentation by Newt. Ricky - not so much.
I believe someone on the big thread said C-SPAN will be rebroadcasting it later, around 10pm?
Catch it if you can.
I found Santorum’s talk inspiring, overall.
